Does David no Charlie better than anyone............,.?
Well if you want to know, you will have to watch and find out....... This is the type of film that if you say anymore the film is wasted. Kind-a-like The Sixth Sense - if someone told you that Bruce willis is actually dead, it would waste the whole film.
I liked this film alot and wasn't expecting the ending to turn out the way it did.............
Advantages: Dakota Fanning - she's superb Disadvantages: It's all a bit daft, you know
other films in the genre. Similarities / thefts from The Shining are in abundance but comparing the two films is rather like setting me up against Brad Pitt. This often means that Hide and Seek is trying to be something that it's not and will set up the director (John Polson) for plenty of criticism for lacking originality. The twist, when it comes, is not entirely unpredictable but still a good jolt to the senses, even if it is followed by standard Hollywood naffness. Interestingly enough, the region 2 DVD contains a total of five different endings, all of which are variations on a similar theme, but each having their own subtle nuances. Only the hardiest of film fans will sit through them all though - Hide and Seek simply isn't an accomplished enough film to justify this.
Will Hide and Seek make you jump? I think it might do. Will Hide ...
If you like horror films then the 2005 film, Hide and Seek, may be just for you. It was directed by John Polson
Hide and Seek is about a psychologist, Dr. David Callaway (Robert De Niro) and his daughter Emily (Dakota Fanning), who move to a new home after his wife and Emily's mother, Alison (Amy Irving) commits suicide. However their attempts to get over the trauma are hindered, when Emily makes a new friend called Charlie, who David thinks is imaginery as he has never met Charlie. Charlie likes to play hide and seek and also likes causing trouble. When Charlie's behaviour becomes erratic and dangerous, David must discover what is really going if he and Emily are to survive the ordeal.
This is an average film that suffers from a poor script. The performances of Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning help make this a watchable film ...
Advantages: Dakota Fanning's performance Disadvantages: Not as scary or fast paced as I'd have liked
Hide and Seek follows David and Emily Callaway (Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning) as a father and daughter struggling to come to terms with the sudden gruesome suicide of Alison, David's wife and Emily's mother.
De Niro gives an even and understated performance as a psychologist who decides to move to a secluded house in the middle of the woods in an attempt to help Emily recover from her deep emotional scars. However, things go downhill when Emily suddenly makes an "imaginary" friend.
Seemingly following the age-old cliches of horror movies so far, the mysterious setting of the house, the slightly creepy neighbours and Fanning's chilling performance slowly move on the plot and the viewer begins to question exactly how imaginary Emily's friend really is.
Hide and seek may take a while to build momentum compared to your average ...
