Hex - Season 2 (Box Set) (DVD)

...new development, and new information. Hex is basically a story of bad vs. good, only the lines are less defined, with bad characters becoming quite appealing, and good characters doing bad things to meet their own desires, usually to end with very bad consequences.

Series 2 of Hex takes off where Series 1 left. In series one we see Cassie learn she's a witch, lose her best friend to Azezeal, leader of the Nephelim (the fallen angels) ...
...conceive and abort the child who will set free the rest of the Nephelim and potentially ruin the world - only for the child to be kept alive by Azezeal.
In Series 2, Cassie is to learn that her child is alive and that in order to save the world, she must kill it. New character, Ella Dee, brings suspicion with her, but ultimately becomes the hero of the series and a wonderful addition to the show (she's actually my favourite character).

Compared to Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I would have to say the only similarities are that it deals with the supernatural, there are female heroes, and its based around teenagers, and aimed at a teenage/young adult audience. Otherwise, this show is quite different, instead of it being a different adventure with every episode, every episode takes us further into the adventure and unfolding story, every episode has a new twist, a new development, and new information. There are a lot of changes in series two to series one, but the changes, I feel are for the better. And series 2 is 13 episodes long, unlike series one which was at five episodes. The DVD includes a commentary given by the director which is particularly insightful if you're a fan, or you're interested in film production.
I could say a lot more about this brilliant Television show, but perhaps all that is needed to say is that its well worth buying, and if you're a fan of similar television programmes or science fiction, this is a show you will want to check out.
