Heat is a crime film directed and written by Michael Mann. The film was released in 1995. This is the big screen remake of the Michael Mann TV film, LA Takedown.
This film is about two men with conflicting lives. Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) is a cop and Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) is expert thief. They both have problems in their social lives, but when it comes to their jobs, they are both professionals.
When a robbery that McCauley and his team are involved in goes awry, Hanna manages to get on the trail of McCauley and attempts to hunt him down. A cat and mouse game ensues between the two men, each as determined as the other.
The supporting cast includes Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Ashley Judd and Natalie Portman. All of these actors give great performances especially Natalie Portman.
This is a very memorable film thanks to the long awaited scene between Pacino and De Niro. The two actors are perfect in their roles as men who are perfectionists. The script is good with great direction from Mann. This is what a crime film should be like. I definitely recommend this film to everyone. Buy it for your DVD collection today.

an ok review only that i have somewhat different view of this movie. It's ok maybe the problem was that i expected too much with all the star actor and all that.
Advantages: Perfect Casting, Story, Action, directing - the list goes on forever! Disadvantages: None what so ever - although at present, there are no DVD extras.
