This Action/Thriller is directed by Michael Mann and has all his trademark atmospheric qualities. There isnt much in the way of major twists or surprises and it seem to think that by putting Pacino and De-Niro in the same film and giving every element of the production a fantastic style and realism, that this will be enough.....it is.

Pacino plays an LAPD Detective "Vincent Hanna" trying to hunt down "Neil Mcauley" (De-Niro) and his criminal gang who carry out ingeneous and high profile robberies in the city. Both are very experienced at what they do, and so you never know who will come out on top as Hannah assesses each crime scene and edges closer.

There are some very good action set pieces such as the bank heist, which, if you've never seen it before, is just pure excitement. The other focus of the film is on the relationships that both sides have with their wives/girlfriends and how little they are able to bring to a relationship. De-niro and Pacino, although on different sides of the law, seem to be similar people.

Excellent cast and production with a stylish director. It cant really fail to be good. This is a huge movie, its just lacking in memorable moments. Because of this though it perfect for DVD as it withstands repeated viewing.
