Having watched this film on tv once I went straight out to the shops to buy a copy on video. It is a superb quality crime film that is watchable over and over again. Although some might find this film a little lengthy the battle to catch professional villian (Robert De Niro) by ace cop (Al Pacino) makes for compulsive viewing. Apart from the final scene the two only meet once during the film. This is mid-way through the film when Pacino persuades De Niro to have a coffee with him. The two talk and discover to be in fact very similar to each other despite the opposite nature of their professions. The film keeps you right on the edge of your seat until the closing credits. The final scene is extremely tense as the viewer waits to see if the villain or the cop will finally triumph.
