Having grown up with the Harry Potter books I've always been very interested in the film adaptions. I normally don't hold much hope for them, as the book is always richer in detail and frankly lasts longer than the film (I personally only count The Lord of the Rings films better than the books, but that's it). It's no different here. But that doesn't mean these films aren't excellent! I'd buy them just for the surroundings and set-pieces, let alone the occasional Ron Weasley line that has everyone in stitches in the cinema. The presentation of the boxset is excellent, neatly packed. This is a superb present for any child or fan of the books. I personally like to watch the films around Christmas, they have a festive glow about them, but it's something that can be pulled out at any time. It also allows us to see the characters as they get older and there early ventures into adulthood (Harry and Cho Chang etc.) All in all, a briliant boxset and one I'd definitely consider purchasing if I was you. If not for the fact there's two, perhaps three (if The Deathly Hallows is split into two parts) more films to be released on DVD. It seem like a shameless attempt to squeeze a bit more money, and it is. But I fell for it. And I'm not the least bit sorry I did.

This box set (and the ones that came before it) will become obsolete when the new movies come out. It'll be a good few years, but for those who don't mind waiting it's best to hold off until all of the movies come out.

There are DEFINATELY three more films, The Deathly Hallows is already being filmed, if not already completed. Could do with more info and opinion on the individual films here.
Advantages: Great characters, great actors, love the visual effects and music score Disadvantages: Some of the DVDs are more action packed and exciting than others in the collection
Advantages: Offers freedom to watch all films so you can keep a continual track of the story. Disadvantages: Although enjoyable, the later films are more compelling to view than those before.
