**What Is It?** Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD is the adventures of Harry Potter at his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is a 2 disc special edition DVD.
**Why Watch It?** As everyone knows when a Harry Potter movie comes out it is huge (even getting front page news sometimes) For hardcore Harry Potter fans like me, who have grown up with the books and movies by their side, then of course you would do practically anything to see and get a hold of the DVD. If you are not as mad as me/us then there are a lot of reasons you may watch it. First if you have kids then you kind of have to see it at the cinema anyway with them. Second if you don't have kids then it doesn't matter this isn't really a kids sort of film it is for everyone! And third if you see this one it gives you excuses to watch and read the previous books/movies!
**Front Cover** Possibly the most recognisible Harry Potter cover in the series is Harry in his Triwizard Gear with Fleur, Cedric, Viktor. Ron and Hermione standing with Hogwarts in the backround and the scene of the second task. There standing all looking concerned and so they should be. My favourite cover of the series.
**How Does It Differ To The Book?** As a big Harry potter fan i was able to spot immediate differences in the film from the book. This is a 734 page book and to change it into 2 hour movie must have been very difficult and i appereciate that. However i would have expected them to concentrate a bit more on the triwizard tasks as they are over very quickly rather then in the book where 1/2 chapters are devoted to each task. And then there was the most annoying thing they missed out which was QUIDDICH! Why!!!! In the book this is Rons chance to shine as a player and they don't put it in?!?! From my style of writing i guess you can feel my blood boil. There are a lot of changes from book to movie which i'm not going into detail with but HP fans will have noticed the absence of Dobby who makes a reappearence in this movie and it was him who gave Harry gilliweed and not Neville. But all in all i am pleased with what they have put in and i respect it was hard to miss out stuff. There i've had my rant!
**Cast/Character** There is a lot of old and new faces in this movie. Because of the triwizard cup, this brings in a lot of unfamilyar faces like Fleur and Viktor but also in this you get a deeper knowledge of whos in the ministry and a glimpse of how it works. Harry Potter- Daniel Radcliffe of course, starring in the last 3 movies and hopefully continueing, to finish off the series. Playing the couregous Harry with new obsticles to face as his fight with evil continues Hermione Granger- Emma Watson is back as the intelligent Hermione but this year you see her character in a new light Ron Weasley- Rupert Grint as Harrys best friend who has major issues with Harry in this film Cho Chang- Katie Leung playing Harrys love interest and Cedrics girlfriend Ginny Weasley- Bonnie Wright is back playing Rons little sister Cedric Diggory- Chris Pattinson playing Harrys 'rival' in teh Triwizard cup. Cho's boyfriend Viktor Krum- Stanislav Ianevski who is new on the HP set playing the famous quiddich player and champion Fleur Delecour- Clémence Poésy a famous french actress playing the Beuxbatons champion Professor Dumbledore- Micheal Gambon in his second appearence as Dumbledore. Professor McGonnnagal- Maggie Smith playing the Scottish Transfigiration Professor Barty Crouch- Roger Lloyd Pack is playing the doomed judge Barty Crouch Jr.- David Tennant playing the mad villian (brillantly!) Every actor/ess is incredibly talented and have been well chosen by the casting crew.
**Plot** Harry Potter is at his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The film starts you off in an unfamilyar place where an old man is making a cup of tea. He is the keeper of an old house which has not been lived in for 16 years. He notices there are lights flashing on one of the high up windows, and thinking it is 'bloody' kids he goes to investigate. He hears men speaking and is caught where he is killed using Avada Kedavra. The next thing you see is Harry struggiling in his sleep as he had just dreamed all this. Hermione is waking him and Ron up as they need to get ready as they are going to the quiddich world cup. This match is the final between Ireland and Bulgaria and every wizard over the world is attending. So the match is over and Ireland win but there is trouble. Voldemorts death eaters are out in force burning down the campsite which teh fans are staying at and causing trouble. Amoungst all the confusion Harry is separated from the grup and knocked unconsious. But Herminone and Ron find him but are attacked by Ministry officials thinking that they did all this so they had to explain. Harry is finally on his way to Hogwarts but trouble always finds him. The Triwizard tournament is announced at Hogwarts in which a student from Hogwarts and two other European wizarding schools are to compete for 'Eternal Glory' and 1,000 galleons in prize money (JK says thats about £15,000!) All you have to do is put your name in a magical cup and the cup chooses someone from each school to compete. Under 17's however are not permitted to enter (As Fred and George found out!) So the date arrives where everyone who wants to put their name forward does and the whole school watches in anticipation. Cedric Diggory, Fleur DeLeacur and Viktor Krum are picked and all is well! But whats this, the cup calls Harry's name event though he is underage and didn't put his name in anyway! So Harry's in hot water. Will not revel anymore but the Triwizard Tournament consists of three tasks which each champion must attempt. Who can Harry trust at his time of need? Love is in the air at the Yule Ball, who will it be? Will Harry make through it and still be able to fight Voldemort?
**Special Effects** Wow! The special effects have a huge part in this movie so they had to be good. But they have worked to perfection and they are so realistic, i'm very impressed. But one scene which is about 75% special effects is one of the tasks where they are underwater. The camera follows Harry where he is trying to save his friend but the graphics are so realistic even through a lot of the creatures don't exsist like the mermaids. Also when Harry is getting chased by a dragon the graphics are simply outstanding! This film is flawless when it comes special effects and i am very very impressed.
**Soundtrack** Is so fantastic i have bought it (check out my review if you want) I loved the new uniqueness of music. Of course there is the original 'Hedwigs Theme' which is used but this movie as a uniqueness music wise that the first three did not. It has ventured away even incourparating rock music! But it still has the magic of all the films. I loved especially when the visitors where coming into the hall and the music then was so strong a bold. Loved the soundtrack and it is worth buying as an extra.
**Price/Where To Get It?** The RRP is £25.99 which is the highest price offered. But since this was released about a year ago the price has gone down to about £10 which is a great price. This is a two disc edition and the one disk is a lot cheaper if your worried about price. You can get this just about everywhere from HMV to Tescos so have a look around. If you get it for under £15.99 then you've got a bargain.
**Special Features** This is something this DVD has a lot of and has been split into 2 discs.

**Whats Right With It?** So much is right, about 99%! The special effects are breathtaking, the acting is superb, the soundtrack is incredible and the story is great. This is a fantastic DVD to have and i really enjoyed watching the different mini movies on Disc 2 which were very interesting. The film is fantastic and so is the DVD!
**Whats Wrong With It?** The 1% that annoys me so much is the fact they missed out a lot. That just annoys me! But i have come to accept that this was a long book and they couldn't put every detail in but it would have been nice...
**Conclusion** This is one of the most sought of DVD's and even know is still in the top 50 DVD's. I loved the movie a lot and the DVD extras are fantastic.

In Goblet of Fire Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint - he was in Thunderpants!!! - hint the sarcasm of the three exclamation marks) and Hermione (Emma Watson) are off again to unwittingly cause anarchy at Hogwarts and piss off the staff as well as the undeveloped dark lord, Lord Voldermort. ■The Book■
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth installment in the Harry Potter series and this is where it all gets exciting. If you have read the book then you will obviously know what happens but I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't. The book tells the story of Harry's excitement filled fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardary.
The main event that the book is arranged around is the Triwizard Tournament ... ...tournament and keeps you with Harry all year as he goes through life and starts to grow up. The book is definitely not over until it is over as in a typical Harry Potter book fashion, most of the action happens at the end and a lot of what will be needed to understand the next three books will be revealed at the end of this book.

...before, I am a massive Harry Potter fan and I've watched them religiously as they've been released. This film was no exception, another charming story to add to the tale of Harry Potter and his adventure through Hogwarts.

The film opens with a dark snake slithering through the grasses of the graveyard towards an "outhouse". You are then in the caretakers house who spots a flashing light from one of the windows of the outhouse. He ... ...begin to destroy the campsite. Harry (of course) gets separated from the rest of the group as they head back to the portkey and ends up being knocked unconscious by people rushing past him. He wakes up and sees a mysterious man lurking out ( the same man we saw in the outhouse). He casts a spell and creates the "Dark Mark" of Voldemort in the clouds. This is where the confusion starts for Harry and continues throughout the film.
I think this film ...

Advantages: Great cast holding it up Disadvantages: They shouldn't need to hold it up. Too dark
J K Rowling's Harry Potter series has been a massive topseller on paper, and it has seen large amounts of success in its transformation onto the big screen behind various directors. Featuring household names as the adult performers, the first three films have been very successful and kept very true to the books, although it is inevitable that certain things will be left out in the transition. This is the fourth in the series, Harry Potter and the ... ...number of initially unassailable tasks, Harry must use all bhis resolve and resources to win the tournament, or at least stay alive whilst competing in it!!! And the most worrying thing is that Harry never put his name forward for the competition, so there is something sinister afoot once more. And with the Dark Lord Voildemort growing stronger, you never know when he could be around the next corner!

Advantages: great allround movie Disadvantages: value for money
anyone who was appaled by the tacky special effects and strained acting in the first two films should jump for joy. the acting has improved greatly and the special effects are a woder to behold.
Harry (Daniel Radcliff) must compete, unwillingly, in the triwizard tornament after his name was mysteriously entered into the goblet of fire by and unknown enemy. but there are more challenges instore than even the judges expected in which Harry comes face to face with he who must not be named once again in a breathtaking ending. this is by a long way the greatest HarryPotter movie so far and i would recomend it to everyone, muggles, wizards, adults and children.

The director Mike Newell embraces the saga's dark side with flair... The combination of British eccentricity, fatalism and steady-on pluck remains intact. (New York TImes, )
What a wiz! The Harry Potter films get better and better (News Of The World, )
In granting THE GOBLET OF FIRE an earthier real-world tone, Newell has crafted a parable about the pains and pangs of adolescence. In doing so, he has made the most grown-up Potter yet. (Sight And Sound, )

DVD Description
Adults who may have been turned off by the more kid-friendly elements of the first two Potter films should sit up and cheer; this fourth installment of Harry's adventures at the magic school of Hogwarts is more mature and darker than its immediate predecessor. This year, Hogwarts is hosting the Tri Wizard festival, and there may be a plot afoot to off Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) during the proceedings. Hermione (Emma Watson) finds a man worthy of her in competing Russian Quidditch champion Viktor Krum (Stanislav Ivaneski), to the chagrin of Ron Weaselly (Rupert Grint) who, though growing into a fine, shaggy orange-haired figure of a lad, is still not quite mature enough to ask Hermione to the Yule ball. Krum's teacher may be involved in the dastardly get-Harry plot, which involves writhing snake tattoos, skull clouds, death-eaters, tournaments with live dragons, a submersible schooner, and a competing school of poised and beautiful girls run by Maxime (Frances De La Tour), who shares a romantic past with gamekeeper Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane). All the other favourites of the series are back as well, including Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, and Gary Oldman, with Timothy Spall as the odious Wormtail, while a new addition to the A-list thespian roster is Ralph Fiennes. Director Mike Newell takes plenty of time to explore character development, but the story still gallops along at a breathless pace, with memorably intense moments involving fire-spewing dragons, dark magical rites, and near-drownings at the hands of slimy mer-people, all of which may prove too much for the youngest of viewers. Everyone else is advised to hold on tight.
