Harry Potter finds himself being back at Privet Drive with his Aunt and Uncle as it is the school holidays, he is quite sad that none of his friends have written to him and is feeling very lonely. He receives a surprise visit from a house elf called Dobby and he soon finds out that his friends have been writing to him and Dobby has been stopping the letters from getting to him.
Dobby soon tells Harry that he is not to return to Hogwarts School as he will be in danger and as a result of Harry not listening to him Dobby leaves the room and causes havoc at Aunt and Uncles House party which results in Harry being locked in his room. Fortunately for Harry, his best friend Ron and his older brothers arrive in their Father flying car and help Harry escape. Once at Ron’s house Harry feels happy and excited about returning to Hogwarts.
The day comes when they are to catch the Hogwarts Express but as Harry and Ron try to get to the platform they find the entrance has been sealed which results in them flying their fathers car to school. Things are no all they seem though when they finally get there as they find that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened.
Who or what opened the Chamber of secrets, what is the chamber of secrets and just what would it mean for Harry and the fellow students if the wrong person was to get their hands on what was inside the chamber?
I really did enjoy this film much more than the first one. I found the characters had become more established in their roles and seemed more confident in their performances. Daniel Radcliff who played the lead role of Harry was slightly older in this film and it did show not only in his appearance but also in his confidence. He did very well with his role and made Harry so believable. I liked how he worked with his best friend Ron, there seemed to be a great chemistry between the two boys. Ron also matured for this role and it again did show in his performance. Hermione was a much better character in this film, she lost some of her little miss know it all appearance and seemed slightly more normal and less bossy. I liked how she changed slightly for this film as I was not keen on her in the first one.
There were a lot of supporting actors and actresses in this film and for me the role of Dumbledore and Lockhart were the main ones. . Ginny Weasels was another new character in this film and I loved how the young actress portrayed her. I also think Draco did well and I liked how he was featured slightly more in this film and how he has started to show his hatred for the muggles and half wizards. His character really did start to show his true colours in this film. I have mentioned a few of the other main characters but there were a lot more and each did super jobs and gave the film slightly more depth.
The storyline was good and I did enjoy it. I found that if you had not read the book before watching the film then it was great but as I have read the book first then I found that lots was missing in the film and for me this was a disappointment. I think if it had more of the books smaller details in then it would have been slightly better.
The special effects in the film were very good and all looked very believable. There were a few times when I noticed an added backdrop, especially in the Quiddich match scenes but I can forgive this as the magical effects and the others were very good. The music was also very good and all fitted into the film very well, I found it did help with the tensions and emotions of the storyline.
The DVD which I have does not have any bonus features but for me this is no loss as I am not a fan of them anyway. The running time of this film is 161 minutes and I know this may seem long but once I got into the film I really did loose track of the amount of time I had been watching for. The certificate is a PG and I do agree with this, there are a few scary scenes but nothing which was too bad. I bought this DVD for just £3 in Tesco which I felt to be a great bargain price.
Overall taking everything into account I am definitely going to recommend this film as it was entertaining but I am going to say that for fans of the book they might be slightly disappointed as there are big chunks of it missing.

Advantages: Good special FX, well worked out plot, reasonable acting Disadvantages: Some scenes were either silly/childish
the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets.
HarryPotter has been greatly compared to another film of the fantasy genre, and im sure we all know what that is; Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings got more money than H.P, and won more awards, but i am not on anyones side. My opinion is that it all depends on what the individual likes. For example, if you like battles and major action, go for LOTR, if you like more child-suitable films, go for H.P.
In most good dvd shops such as HMV, they should sell the DVD for around £15.00. the DVD is a 2 disc set and contains:

Spellbinding... more magical, exciting and fun than the first (Jonathan Ross, 13/07/2009)
DVD Description
Director Chris Columbus recreates the magic of the second book from author J.K. Rowling's best-selling series about a young wizard, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). In this sequel, Harry and his friends Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the new school year only to be met with a terrifying mystery. An unknown creature, one that supposedly lives in the legendary Chamber of Secrets hidden at Hogwarts, is attacking students in the school, leaving them literally petrified and as cold as stone. Even the professors seem at a loss for how to solve the chilling mystery, leaving it up to Harry and his friends to save the day. Rowling's story translates well to the big screen, with a magical flying car, a giant spider, a house elf named Dobby, and assorted other creatures making their film debuts. Radcliffe continues to charm as the wide-eyed young Potter, and Grint shines as his best friend and sidekick. Kenneth Branagh joins the all-star cast as the preening megalomaniac author and professor, Gilderoy Lockhart. HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS also stars the late Richard Harris, majestic Maggie Smith, and an under-used Alan Rickman.
