with his best friends Hermione and Ron. He ignores warnings not to go back to Hogwarts by a mysterious house elf named Dobby. Soon into the school year strange things start happening. Students are found in a petrified state, messages written in blood appear on the walls and Harry starts to hear voices in his head. It becomes apparent that someone has opened The Chamber of Secrets... but who is responsible and can the dark forces that lurk there be stopped?n
original left off. Harry is returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after the summer holidays and, right from the start, things are not straightforward. Unable to board the Hogwarts express, Harry and his friends break all the rules and make their way to the school in a magical flying car. From this point on, incredible events happen to Harry and his friends--Harry hears evil voices and someone, or something is attacking the pupils. Can Harry get to the bottom of the mystery before it's too late? As with its predecessor Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a highly readable and imaginative adventure story with real, fallible, characters, plenty of humour and, of course, loads of magic and spells. There is no need to have read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to enjoy this book. However, if you have read it, this is the book you have been waiting for. (Ages 9 to Adult). --Philippa Reece

Christopher Columbus notes, "You'll hear the familiar themes that all of us have grown to love and associate withHarry Potter. You'll also hear a wealth of new material... Like the Potter novels, John Williams's new score is not a sequel." There is indeed a rich diversity, with a pompous march for "Gilderoy Lockhart", hugely colourful pyrotechnics for "Cornish Pixies" and a beguiling new theme for "Dobby the House Elf". The all-action "The Spiders" evokes the maelstrom of Williams' glorious action writing forThe Empire Strikes Back(1980) and the London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices play with all the required whirlwind magic. Williams breaks tradition by not conducting, handing the baton to William Ross, who provides additional new music. Because Williams had simultaneously to score Steven Spielberg'sCatch Me If You Can(2002) Ross has also rearranged themes fromHarry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone(2001). Fans need have no fear, as the result sounds like pure Williams, an even more spirited fantasy adventure than before. This is a blockbusting, thrilling crowd-pleaser to stand beside theStar Warssoundtracks with its head held high.--Gary S Dalkin
Advantages: Good storyline as usual Disadvantages: Bit too serious for the younger harry potter fans
...This film is the second film in the HarryPotter series, all the actors are superb once again. They really fit into their roles well and really bring the characters to life.
In this movie Harry returns to school despite the efforts of Dobby an house elf who does everything possible to try and stop HarryPotter from returning. The storyline is the usual Harry escapes from his aunts and uncles and at school he gets into fights saves the day again helped by Ron and Hermionre. Overall a good film for the slighty more older children. The scenes are fab and the special effects are magical as usual the film is overall a great DVD to watch as a family on a night....

Advantages: Keeps the kids quite for a long long long time Disadvantages: Not many........the special features were lacking
...When i first saw harrypotter, i was the conventional parent renting a film out to get some quite time. But i was surprised to say the least. What a wonderful film for the whole family. However do not expect a whole bunch of special features, it is really just the plain old film on sale here. But whenever the stress is on you can be sure that this film can relieve some that of that!

DVD Description
Director Chris Columbus recreates the magic of the second book from author J.K. Rowling's best-selling series about a young wizard, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). In this sequel, Harry and his friends Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the new school year only to be met with a terrifying mystery. An unknown creature, one that supposedly lives in the legendary Chamber of Secrets hidden at Hogwarts, is attacking students in the school, leaving them literally petrified and as cold as stone. Even the professors seem at a loss for how to solve the chilling mystery, leaving it up to Harry and his friends to save the day. Rowling's story translates well to the big screen, with a magical flying car, a giant spider, a house elf named Dobby, and assorted other creatures making their film debuts. Radcliffe continues to charm as the wide-eyed young Potter, and Grint shines as his best friend and sidekick. Kenneth Branagh joins the all-star cast as the preening megalomaniac author and professor, Gilderoy Lockhart. HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS also stars the late Richard Harris, majestic Maggie Smith, and an under-used Alan Rickman.
Advantages: Great special effects Disadvantages: Slighty immature for adults
...Chris Columbus spins a magic tale from J K Rowlings world wide phenomenon, HarryPotter and the chamber of secrets.
HarryPotter, (Daniel Radcliff) unusual boy wizard is starting his second year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizadary, but there are even more strange things happening. the chamber of secrets has been opened and slytherins monster is wreaking havoc by petrifying studends. nobody knows who or what is responsible so its up to Harry, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) to save the day in this breath-taking film including a flying car, a Giant Basilisk, and the memory of He who must not be named. a great family film, much improved, with unbeliveable special effects and great acting will fill you with mystery, whatever your age...

Advantages: When watching this film as a young adult, I found it darker than the last one and it appealed to wider audience than just children. This is a true reflection on the Harry Potter book series which are now read by millions around the globe Disadvantages: some scenes may be disturbing for younger viewers and the whole film was marred by the bad performance from the actor who played Ron Weasley.
...From the moment I saw this movie I knew that this, albiet a childs film in general, would be up there with Lord Of The Rings this winter. Another fantastic Performance from the actor who played HarryPotter showed that the third film in the series will have lots of promise. Kenneth Branagh playing Gildroy Lockheart was an inspired casting decision that the director would not regret as I felt the film almost portayed the book identically. The comedy side of the film definately shined and I even enjoyed the cameo appearance from a certain wizard played by Ian Mckellon (anyone who buys the DVD check the pictures on Dumbledors office!). The soundtrack was an original score by John Williams and he is still on par and these kind of films show why Star Wars soundtrack was amazing. All round this film is not to be missed and I would reccomend...
