I am a Telly Addict. I'll admit it, it's my life. What's more, I love anything that has me in stitches. So what better than to combine two of my favourite things and come up with an amazing show?! Harry Hill's TV Burps is a comedy show, presented by Harry Hill, which airs every on and off on ITV1. He also writes the script for the show too, which must result in him non-stop working. It first started in 2001 when Hill was just 37, and has been a success for the last eight years now. Each episode, Hill takes us on a journey to look back at that weeks' television, and everything comic about it. Often, there is a celebrity guest appearing in the audience-filled studio, to bring the entertainment and laughter to a peak. Now we can enjoy this magic on a DVD!

For Christmas I had asked for Harry Hill's TV Burp Gold DVD, however I did not imagine it would be bought for me. You can imagine my face when I unwrapped the DVD on Christmas Morning though, Harry Hill shining up at me! On the front of the case, the background is a scene of clouds, so calming and natural. In contrast, mounted, Harry Hill has decided to ride around on a TV remote. This purely adds humour before we have even begun to play the DVD. Scanning the back, we are told a little about the show, and what is in store for us. There are also a few quotes from various sources about the DVD. The Guardian says, "The freshest and most original show in mainstream television". Similarly, Radio Times states, '"No-one mocks the week's TV with the same blend of cruelty and affection". At the mention of 'mock the week', I thought briefly about the TV show by the same name. I had never even considered TV Burp to be similar to that show, in my opinion Mock The Week is not a scratch upon Harry Hill's work! But would this DVD back me up?

I popped the DVD into the laptop and let it play. As the theme tune began to play, the show was brought to me. It's quite a cheerful, happy tune. It's certainly one to set you up for laughter, that's for sure, as a little Hill walks across the purple screen gobbling up TV shows: Australian Princess, Marbella Bella, Coronation Street. Straight away you can tell you are in for an unique and quite bizarre experience!

At the menu you are then given a few choices: Play, Scene Selection, Extra Burps and Subtitles On/Off. Subtitles is as the name, and likewise is Scene Selection, where you have eight different scenes to choose from. I kept Extra Burps till the end and went straight to Play. After another introduction of TV-gobbling, there he was, sitting in his studio. Te man who looks more and more like one of our maths teachers, with his baldness and classic white shirt. Hill looks so relaxed behind his desk, he is truly a natural in front of the audience.

Hill starts the show with a few quick 'laughs', mocking a few shows from 'that week', including one of my favourites where a clip is shown - Betty from Emmerdale literally howling like a werewolf! That was me, in stiches merely seconds into the show! If this was only the beginning, I couldn't begin to imagine what I was yet to face!

After this short ease-in, Hill gets down to the longer clips. He starts off by explaining a little about each clip, nothing too funny, just general facts (though somehow he still has me laughing!). I'll explain the first one, purely because it is one of the ones I laughed at most! He explains aboutJamie Oliver's chicken farm experiment, the clip then telling us more. Jamie Oliver has set up an intensive peasant farm, and a free-range one for chickens. The clip then shows us him literally throwing crates of chicks into barns. If this was not amusing enough, we then see Hill repeatedly throw crates of little fuzzy Easter chicks around his studio (the ones you get at Easter time for decoration!). I couldn't stop laughing!

After this, there are a lot of other hilareous clips to follow, and I must admit there are just one or two I did not find amusing. Why? Probably because I cannot relate to them in any way. Though thankfully this was a rare occasion! There was another part which I will explain as I think it makes the DVD what it is. Remember in Emmerdale when Val found out she had Cataracts? Such a fuss has been made about this on Harry Hill, with many celebs stating 'Cataracts?' and then later 'Ear Cataracts?'. These guests have been suchlike: Loose Women, Jack P. Shepherd and Michelle Keegan, Richard and Judy, Noel Edmonds and a large variety more. There was also reference to Billie Piper in Mansfield Park, and quite a long clip of her role. That made my day!

This part lasts for an hour, which is equivalent to two full-length episodes. There is so much humour packed into such a short space of time, it us unreal! Halfway through, we get the imfamous 'FIGHT!'. This is when Hill debates what will win in a fight. This varies from show to show, and has included things such as a Mars Bar and a Chop, two coloured mice, and Phil Mitchell and Mr Blobby! I'll let you find out what it is in this DVD for yourself! After the hour was up, I felt I couldn't laugh no more! I was in so much stitches I felt I may have needed to visit Holby!

I decided to put the Extras to the test, and clicked on the option, then faced with four further choices: Unseen TV Burp, TV Burp: The Fights, Out-takes, and Freaky Eaters Top Ten. I started at the top, with Unseen TV Burp. Hills us that this section contains fifteen minutes of clips he did not have time to slot into his show. So basically is is just an extension onto the DVD! There are some hilareous clips here about Fussy Eaters and Over Ambitious Cucumber Fold-over Of The Week. This 'of the week' is found in each episode, and it is a dedicated clip to the most random thing ever. This one was a clip of a woman trying to fold a cucumber over a piece of meat. Random? Yes. Do we expect anything else? No!

After this, I went to TV Burp: The Fights. This short two minute section is a show reel of many 'FIGHTS' from TV Burps. Some of the items and people Hill has had fighting is so outrageous, it;s unreal! Each and every one is funny and unique in their own way! This section may be short in time, but not short in humour! "Which is better, Babies or Cats? There's only one way to find out...FIGHT!" :)

Next it was time for Out-takes. I adore out-takes, no matter what the programme, I find them

hilareous. So I had a good feeling that this ten minute section was going to be something from out of this world. Seeing Hill mess up his lines is very entertaining indeed, and when he spills beer all over his clothes, I can't keep myself together!

Okay, with just one section to go, I felt things couldn't possibly be dire! Top Ten Freaky Eaters was it's title, but just how freaky would they be?! Hill makes fun of ten of his favourite Freaky Eaters from the show, including his obsession over Hoops, and those who eat nothing but chocolate! He mocks them as if he were a little kid, which can be humerous, though I am not at all pleased that he is making fun of Eating Disorders. This did not end the DVD in a light mood, so I decided to watch part of the actual show again, which worked to make me laugh!

With the DVD over, I decided to compare it to the show. It is amazing to be able to sit and watch an hour and a half of Hill in one go, compared to the usual just half an hour. I also liked how I could relate to some of the clips, as I had seem them on the TV series. I do love the TV series, and now I can watch it as and when!

This DVD was released in 2008, though the clips date right back to mocking shows from the very beginning of TV Burp. I mean, I had almost forgotten about how Tracy Barlow tried to sell her baby to the Croppers but this just brought it all flooding back, and made the heart-aching story for the Croppers, seem hilarious to me! It is rated 12, and this is apparently because of moderate language and drug reference. Personally I cannot recall any drug reference, but the language is a little mild, so I feel the rating is perfect. You can buy this DVD from £9 at HMV, to £18 at various online stores, so it is definitely worth the price too!

So would you like this? First of all, I don't think it would appeal to you if you do not watch much television - you really do need to be an Addict to laugh all the way through! Though there are of course some parts you are bound to laugh at even if you have never owned a TV before (though why you wouldn't have, I don't know - what would your furniture point at?!). Hill's humour is so natural, he doesn't even try to be funny, he just simply speaks his mind (simple being the key word :P). He is very easy to understand, and I feel he can easily appeal to all ages (he presented a CITV show a while back 'Shark Infested Custard', which just proves he amuses all!). This is a perfect DVD, whether looking to treat yourself of buy as a gift for a fan.

For once, it actually is okay to Burp on television, so do not miss this Golden opportunity!

I'm out of Es, but I'll come back. I prefer his stand up routines to his presenting stuff. xx

I like him a lot, wish he would do more stand up.
