For those of you that love film, and European film in particular, this DVD is a must have. It consists of 16 shortfilms by some of Europe?s best and brightest directors. Most of them were made before the Directors hit the big time (as far as I can tell but I cannot guarantee that as some of them I haven?t heard of), even including film school graduation shorts.
This DVD consists of 16 funny, innovative and experimental shorts, all with commentaries recorded mainly by the directors themselves.
The shortfilm is incredibly difficult to pull off, economy of script, direction and an ability to convey as much as possible is of vital importance when you need to tell a complete story within a compacted time period. Many a short filmmaker does not pull this off, I?ve seen way too many that are okay or just not entertaining at all ...

When I bought a copy of Monsters Inc on DVD for my family there was an offer at HMV where for another £2.99 I could get the 'Pixar ShortFilms Collection'. Ordinarily this retails at around £9.99, but can probably be bought cheaper online. I'd seen some of the shortfilms at the start of Pixar films I'd seen at the cinemas and quite enjoyed them so thought I'd take up the offer.
For those that don't know, Pixar are an animation company that are most famous for films such as Toy Story, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. The DVD itself contains a collection of 13 shortfilms, starting from the earliest Pixar animations to those developed in the last few years. The films range from 2-8 minutes in length. Each film can be watched as it is, but some have additional commentary from the animators who worked on the film.
