Physically impressive but idiotic in every other respect, the movie pits an armoured truck courier (Christian Slater) against a smart leader of thieves (Morgan Freeman) and a corruptible town sheriff (Randy Quaid) who are vying for possession of $3 million in cash. A waterlogged game of cat and mouse, the plot is so contrived that even the most impressive action sequences--such as a jet-ski chase through flooded high-school corridors--are robbed of their already tenuous credibility. Before long you'll be yawning as incompetent accomplices are systematically dispatched by their own stupidity, in the kind of movie where the use of power boats inevitably leads to at least one death by outboard motor. There is certainly more to High Land, Hard Rain than Britpop, however. Frame, a stellar acoustic guitar strummer, fills the 13 songs with jazz chords, and Aztec Camera's grooves foreshadow British jazz popsters the Style Council and Everything But the Girl. The armoured van then gets caught in the flood and before the guards ... ...men led by Jim (Morgan Freeman) plan on stealing the money but one of the guards (Christian Slater) has other ideas. He hides the money then the chase is on. The plot has numerous twists, which you can’t see coming so you attention will be kept at all times. The armoured van then gets caught in the flood and before the guards know it they are being fired upon. A group of men led by Jim (Morgan Freeman) plan on stealing the money but one of the guards (Christian Slater) has other ideas. He hides the money then the chase is on. The plot has numerous twists, which you can’t see coming so you attention will be kept at all times. It certainly proves to be different from the average action flick.
The acting is excellent from the all-star cast. Christian Slater, from Broken Arrow, is superb as the Security guard that stands up to the thief’s. He manages to appear convincing in the action scenes and still be great in the drama-based scenes too. Morgan Freeman, from Deep Impact, does an excellent job as the leader of the bad guys. He manages to appear like a thief yet shows a caring and human side too. Randy Quaid, from Independence Day, is brilliant as the Sheriff of the Huntingburg. Minnie Driver, Grosse Point Blank, is also superb in her role.
The action is excellent and although mainly water based manages to keep up a variety that will keep you interested. There is a Jet Ski chase through a school, shootouts, explosions and even more shootouts. The special effects are amazing for such an unheard of movie. The village actually appears under water and there is a dam that bursts so as you can imagine it provides interesting viewing.
This is a great movie that I recommend everyone sees at least once because it is so different. It is well filmed, has a great plot, superb action and dazzling special effects. So don’t take my word for it go and try it for yourself. You won’t regret it.

After seeing this I began to like Christian Slater as an actor, not rating him before. But in ‘Hard Rain’ he really does himself proud. The film is really enjoyable, filled with action, comedy and a small bit of romance (with help from Minnie Driver). The film also includes Morgan Freeman and Randy Quaid. Leaving an all-star cast. The special effects are worth seeing and the movie is shot well. About the movie The film starts with two men, trying ... ...being majorly flooded. (Slater and Edward Asner). On there travel out of the flooded town the security truck is stopped by Freeman and his gang trying to get rich quick. It is up to Slater to prevent the money from falling into the wrong hands, to do his he hides the money and after being accidentally arrested by church keeper – Minnie Driver, he tries to get help from local sheriff – Randy Quaid. Hard Rain although not well known is a good all rounder film.It stars Christian Slater who has finally managed to get rid of the idea that his looks are the only good thing about him, and has proven how good an actor he really is. Morgan Freeman also excells in this film, and for once plays a baddie who we manage to grow to like.
The film revolves around a mixed up hijacking pliot, the attempt to steal thousands of dollars from an armed truck, the ... ...horrific storm where everywhere is flooded.
Slater, one of the guards manages to hide the money, but he ends up getting more than he bargained for, with the film climaxing with a hostage situation after a long action packed chase.I better mention that on eof the hostages is Minnie Driver who acts as well as she normally does. She's also the love interest of Slater.
What you think is taking place isn't and there's many twists and turns to keep you ...

Hard rain is outstanding. This movie was greatly underestimated and I don't even think it made it to the cinema near me. I saw it on video and was amazed that it didn't make a huge dent in the box office takings. This movie is a fast paced action thriller that stars Christian Slater as the hero. Advantages: Certain original aspects basically the location Disadvantages: Too flat personages.
Slater backslides in the sort of action and this time incarnates a security guard that is victim of a holdupheaded by a Morgan Freeman who carries out an interpretation very flojilla. The film bases its originality on its location: a town flooded because of rains but of original has little more because the personages are quite typical and its attitude is quite foreseeable in spite of the relative side changes that do. These desire to give importance ... ...that is thanked for because films of this type do not have because to be an interminable destruction of adversaries. As I have already said the interpretation of Freeman is very loose perhaps because it moves away of esteoreotipo of bad malísimo so own of the villains of Hollywood but it does not manage to convince of any way.
