So much better than most film critics let on, this was a wonderful prequel to the Hannibal series.
The slight touch on things that only a true Hannibal fan would notice (the music that plays as he makes his first killing for example) really make this special.
The action is fierce but within seconds the direction has switched and you feel softness for a boy left alone in the world. At one point you feel rage aginst those doing Hannibal wrong...Hannibal and his lovely younger sister.
Unless you really like Hannibal, you might as well just rent this movie - for no other reason that to satisfy that tiny inquisitive feeling deep in your stomach ... (why DID he turn out like that). If you really do like Hannibal that you might walk away with a slight feeling of disappointment that all those questions you have had for years are still just that....questions.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
