The original 'Silence of the Lambs' was such as success that it's always difficult to make a sequel that's as good. It certainly didn't help when Jodie Foster decided not to take up the role of Starling in this sequel. To be fair to Julianne Moore, she gave her best, but the truth is that she's not Jodie Foster. Anthony Hopkins is at his usual best, but he's really let down by an average screenplay here. There's no chance for him to exhibit the evil but strangely affable side of Hannibal Lecter. Having all these, the film on its own is still quite enjoyable, it's just I expected much more because its prequel was so great. The 2-disc DVD set is also top-class. Tons of special features including a great commentary by Ridley Scott himself! These great extras more than make up the poor main feature.
