A lot of people I know said they thought this movie sucked but I prefer to see it myself and then judge it. I have to say it is definitely not as good as Silence of the Lambs but it has it's moments. Rarely are sequels better than the first but is this a sequel? Sir Anthony Hopkins' plays his role maginificently and really gets into the cannibal role. For a lot of people the movie is already ruined before they go in to see it because of people telling them about the gory bits. If you haven't seen it yet and someone starts to tell you about the brain scene, tell them to stop as it really is better if you don't know what will happen. It works on the shock factor and if you even have an inkling of what will happen it is ruined. It has it's gruesome scenes but does not give you the creeps as much as Silence of the Lambs did. It has a very abrupt ending which paves the way for another Hannibal movie. It has a fairly good storyline and the scenes with the man-eating pigs are cool. Also it would have been better with Jodie Foster and not a lookalike. I would recommend this movie but don't expect as much as Silence of the Lambs.
