Hannibal, what a complete and utter disappointment. The only saving grace was that we visited the cinema on “cheap night”. Wanting to see the eagerly awaited return of Hannibal Lector we trundled off the local multi plex. The plot is simple; Hannibal takes over from where Silence Of The Lambs left off. The infamous Lector is now 10 years older and has secured a position in a library in Florence. The heroine Clarrice, played by an actress, whose name is about as memorable as her accent in the film, is approached by one of Lectors victims with fresh evidence about his whereabouts. Wait for it, Clarrice is given the task of, yep you guessed it, tracking him down again. This film really did have the makings of a good sequel. Times have moved on, special effects have no doubt improved, but there was no real evidence of this in the film. I’m not going to spoil the film, but it has more twists than a “B” road in the middle of Wales, and more cat and mouse than Tom and Jerry could ever muster up.
But having said that, if the better half is giving you grief and you need a bit of “Silence” then take a look for your self, but you may be better off decorating the bathroom rather than wasting your time and money on this flop.
