Advantages: An aesthetically pleasing collection Disadvantages: Some rather poor inclusions
A selection of classic Hammer films from the very good to...not so good. An aesthetically pleasing set for fans of the studio, or those wanting at least half of the titles. Features star favourites Peter Cushing, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and Christopher Lee (about whom there is an interesting documentary with 'Scars of Dracula').
The extra features vary greatly, the biggest ommission, in my opinion, is the total absence of subtitles for the hearing impaired.
For those who are interested all films are anamorphic, some for the first time, and completely uncut.
My personal favourite was the inclusion of the 1965 film 'The Nanny' which stars a very chilling Bette Davis in a well scripted, and often overlooked role.
Probably a tad overpriced for most, but new DVD versions of individual films are also available, so take ...
Advantages: Great eerie, creepy films, Good actors, Eerie music Disadvantages: No special effects, Simple storlines
***HAMMER HOUSE OF HORROR***
I remember watching some of this series on the television when I was quite young and there was something eerie and creepy which made me enjoy watching this series every week. The series was shown on ITV, which ran for 13 weeks, each showing a different episode and story each week. Each programme was an hour long. Some of the actors who feature in these films are Peter Cushing, Denholm Eliot, Diana Dors, Brian Cox, Sian Philips and Pierce Brosnan.
Horror fans will enjoy this series which includes Werewolves, Demons, Witches and Voodoo Dolls. These alternative bedtime stories sparked millions on sleepless nights when they were originally screened and they still remain as scary as ever.
***THE BOXSET***

Advantages: none Disadvantages: loads of scenes and music scores have been cut out
this is the only fools and horses complete collection boxset but in my eyes it isnt because loads of scenes have been cut and musical scores changed or cut out and laughter tracks added onto episodes that didnt originally have a laughter track. so its not really the complete collection is it with all these things changed and added the episode a royal flush is the one that been edited the most loads of scenes have been cut and a laughter track added wich spoils the episode completely. i would strongly recommend anyone that want to see all the episodes in all their glory is to tape them off uk gold its better than this so called complete collection that the bbc have released im still waiting for the genuine complete collection. ...
In 'Rasputin' the evil monk works his satanic power over the women in the Tsar's palace where even the Tsarina cannot escape. In 'Frankenstein Created Woman' Baron Frankenstein places the soul of a murdered man into the dead body of his lover. 'The Vengeance Of She' tells the story of a mysterious woman who is possessed by the spirit of a dead queen and given shelter by a crazy millionaire. In 'The Plague Of The Zombies' a sadistic squire dabbles in voodoo rituals, resurrecting rotting corpses as slaves in an old eerie Cornish village. 'Quatermass And The Pit' tells the story of workmen who unearth prehistoric skulls whilst carrying out excavations on the London Underground. 'To The Devil A Daughter' is Dennis Wheatley's occult chiller which tells of two men locked in deadly battle over possession of a young innocent for the 'Children Of The Lord' cult.
