Last night I went to watch this. The 7th sequel to Halloween. Halloween number 8. Halloween Resurrection. Quite aptly on Halloween. Firstly, I will just say that I have not seen all the Halloween movies. In fact until last night, I had only seen the original, which is superb.
After a short intro sequence explaining why Mike Myers can still be alive after clearly having his head cut off and the death, (yes you read right, death) of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), this film turns into the slasher flick that we all expect. The idea is that a group of students enter the childhood home of Mike Myers for a night. These six lucky (? ahem) people are the stars of a live internet broadcast of a program called 'Dangertainment'.
The director of this program, Freddie, was played by Busta Rhymes. Who is, well how can I put this without sounding cruel, absolutely rubbish. He's a terrible actor. Redemption comes in the fact that he gets the best lines in the movie. In true Bruce Campbell style, cheese just streams from his mouth. "Trick or treat, mother******" "Hey Mikey, happy F****** Halloween" "Burn Motherf****** burn" Brad Loree as Michael Myers. Well what can I say; all he has to do is walk round with a knife and a mask.
The students weren't that good either. Luke Kirby I think was the best actor in this film as Jim Morgan. Anyway, so they're in this house and, surprise, surprise, they get killed one by one.
The whole plot is predictable; the characters always do what real people wouldn't, the acting terrible and loud music makes up for lack of scariness. So a standard slasher flick then? Well yes actually.
I know I sound really negative about this, which is unfair because even though it was really bad I still enjoyed it. It was fast moving and held my attention. The predictability didn't ruin the film rather that it added. You all know what’s about to happen, you just don't know how.
Snippet: - There is one awesome scene where Freddie (Rhymes) enters the house, dressed as Myers in a plot to scare the students. Behind him is the real Mike Myers. Freddie thinks it is his camera tech guy and sends him out to the control room. This scene adds a whole 'Is it the real Myers or the faux Myers?' to the next few scenes. You should go and see it. You probably will enjoy it. If you like cheesy slasher flicks and thought that, for example, Nightmare on Elm Street 3: the dream warriors was okay, then this is for you.
Oh and they leave it open for another sequel.

Good op. I think there have been so many Halleoween films now that they should stop. The first few were the only good ones! Well written. Rob :)

I really cannot understand why they have to go on and on with these. They should have left at alone after the first one. Ali x
