As most know, the Halloween franchise revolves around the serial killer Michael Myers, a psychotic child who grows to a super-strong monster, who also has a thing for masks and knives. Standard horror affair then, but wait...
I don't know what it is, whether it's just me, but I honestly ... ...I admit it goes downhill. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is the only one that doesn't feature Michael Myers. Despite this, it's a decent watch and truly quite shocking in some places. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, is well, the return of Michael Myers. Queue the blood and gore, and a star return from Donald Pleasance as Michael's psychiatrist Doctor Loomis. There really is no point discussing the other films as they follow the same lines, ... more
I know it's early to start writing stuff for Halloween but I brought this a while back, watched it, lost it, and then found it yesterday when I was routing though my draws. As most know, the Halloween franchise revolves around the serial killer Michael Myers, a psychotic child who grows to a super-strong monster, who also has a thing for masks and knives. Standard horror affair then, but wait... I don't know what it is, whether it's just me, but I honestly find these films enjoyable. The first two are horror staples, both revolving around the same night, covered in blood and terrified teenagers. Very cliche, but we forget that this film allowed other films to make it cliche. It's the grandaddy of them all and no film/horror buff would not have these on the shelves. After that, well I admit it goes downhill. There really is no point discussing the other films as they follow the same lines, also starring celebrity names from a young Paul Rudd, LL Cool J, a return from Jamie Lee Curtis, Tyra Banks and Busta Rhymes. On the whole the films aren't big, or at all clever, but they can capture the mood quite pefectly for a friday night. Especially more as it approaches Halloween. Godfather, it ain't, but enjoyable it is.
Advantages: The John Carpenter original, and H20 Disadvantages: The Curse storyline
a sedative and slept her way throught it, which is what she virtually does by the way. The direction is effective, and although not as good as John Carpenters, Rick Rosenthal does a decent job of it. Its just a shame that the script allows the main character to do very little and the killer to run havoc on the main streets of Haddonfield where before he hid creepily in the shadows. The film goes by the premise that the horror will stop here, but as everybody knows the box office just wouldn't let this monster stay dead.
The third film is not really part of the series. Entitled "Season Of The Witch", Dan O'Herily stars as a mad toy maker who wants to restore the true horror routes of Halloween. He, and his team, create a mask that will coincide with a catchy theme tune that will in turn cause the children wearing it to have horrible ...
Advantages: All eight movies together in 1 complete set! Disadvantages: lack of extras on some of the movies
mins of the movie is just drivel.
I am a massive fan of the Halloween series so i was looking forward to this boxset last christmas! I have to say that i was impressed and dissapointed at the same time. The impressive sides to this boxset is of course that you get all eight movies in one box. That is Untill number 9 comes out next October 2007! You get some decent extras like a commentary by Jamie Lee Curtis, John Carpenter and Debra Hill on the first movie and on the Halloween H20 disc (which in my opinion is the best Halloween installment and the best horror film of all time) you get a very in depth look at the making and history of the movies. Halloween Ressurection also has a wide array of features which will keep you entertained. The dissapointing sides to the boxset are the bad picture quality on some of the movies. Well, they ...
Advantages: Brillant Original Movie - to start with Disadvantages: Poor sequels as is alway the case
Michael Myers in all his glory?!!
Well if you just watched the first and last DVD then this would be thew truth, superior slasher fest.
This series is let down by poor sequels and "the year of the witch" has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers, don't ask me why. Something to do with wierd masks and tv sets taking over teens minds.
Jamie Lee Curtis oozes sex appeal and Donald Pleasance is superb and if you watch this after having had a few beers and with your brain turned off you'll probably enjoy.
Certainly do not expect to pay more than £15 for the entire boxset.
Extra features are as standard and there's an interesting interview with John Carpenter that should please fans ...
