(played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the first and second films, as well asHalloween H20) and went after his niece. Now he's chasing her around again in part 5, but it's a lot of other people who die in the process. Donald Pleasence continues his mad-doctor bit from the earlier movies, Danielle Harris is the unfortunate relation, and Donald L. Shanks plays the monster. The film is an improvement on parts 2 and 4 (part 3 having nothing to do with Michael Myers), but it still amounts to routine slaughter with none of John Carpenter's stylistic brilliance from the original movie. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

Production Year: 1981 - Horror - Director: Rick Rosenthal - Original Language: English - Classification: 18 years and over - Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence, Lance Guest, Charles Cyphers, Jeffrey Kramer, Dana Carvey
Advantages: May satisfy people with a desire for gore Disadvantages: Lacking atmosphere, Paper thin plot, Overused story
...nothing to do with the Halloween franchise or the main character 'Michael Myers' so does not merit mention and the fourth was quite atmospheric and did show glimmers of promise but was generally routine.
So with the way the series was going, I could hardly contain my excitement. (oh my, can you feel the sarcasm?)
This film is set a year to the day (Halloween, duh!) from the end of the previous installement and the psycho ... ...returned to stalk Jamie (his niece and the last remaining member of his family) and attempt to murder her and those around her.
As Michael starts murdering his way through Haddonfield (the area in which he does the majority of his butchering), we learn that Jamie has a telepathic connection to Michael in that she senses his presence and seems to go into some from of panic attac whenever he is about to kill.

To give a brief view of what I thought of the previous films in the series: The original was atmosperic and is generally considered as one one of the greatest horror films of all time, the second was set instantly after the first ended and was truly abysmal and not even remotely intense or scary, the third was nothing to do with the Halloween franchise or the main character 'Michael Myers' so does not merit mention and the fourth was quite atmospheric and did show glimmers of promise but was generally routine.

This film is set a year to the day (Halloween, duh!) from the end of the previous installement and the psycho killer, Myers has recovered from being shot down and has returned to stalk Jamie (his niece and the last remaining member of his family) and attempt to murder her and those around her.
As Michael starts murdering his way through Haddonfield (the area in which he does the majority of his butchering), we learn that Jamie has a telepathic connection to Michael in that she senses his presence and seems to go into some from of panic attac whenever he is about to kill.
Jamie has an ally in Dr Loomis (of the original films, played by the late Donald Pleasance). He learns of the family link and realises that he must go to help save her because he is really the only person who knows what Michael is like and knows that he will return. (Loomis was the doctor of Michael Myers for fifteen years according to the original Halloween)
The truth is that this is merely a continuation of a series which was like a long suffering patient in need of either resuscitation or for the life support machine to be turned off. The results really were just over the top gore bordering on the plain sadistic and a plot so incredibly paper thin. I would say make your own mind up but I would rather you didn't have to endure such a sorry excuse for a film.
If you love horror then you may find some enjoyment in this film merely because you may be a fan of the gore generation of the eighties but I personally have nothing against horror (without being a 'fan') and think it is a waste of resources and a waste of ninety minutes.
Where can you get this? How much does it cost? -------------------------------------------------------------------- - If you are desperate enough then you can get this DVD on play.com for £4.99. Only really worth it if you are completing the series or are plain sadistic!! But then that is just my opnion! Review of Halloween 5 - The Revenge Of Michael Myers (Special Edition) (DVD)
Advantages: some scary scenes, interesting at times Disadvantages: jamie did not become like Michael Myers
Halloween 5 is the fifth installment in the Halloween movie franchise and this part is nothing better than the fourth part but I must say that the film is good to watch. I still found the film entertaining as the Jamie's story had continued. She is now in the mental hospital, unable to talk. After the horrific actions of the girl in the end of Halloween 4, she has no one to share anything with. Unfortunately, Michael Myers still lives after he escapes ... ...around the town. He breaks through the prison, eliminating all police officers and as Jamie checks the cell where Michael was imprisoned, she discovers that he has escaped. The movie continues into Halloween 6. Yet the story changes. Do watch the other few films as you will understand the movie. ...

Advantages: Cheap, Brilliant Movie Disadvantages: Flaw in storyline
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. The movie is not bad, some gory bits in it. I would definetly reccommend this to everyone who has atleast watched one of the Halloween films or is wanting to see one because the storyline and killings are ok. Some things are a little different in the storyline this one but the movie is still good. Overall, This movie I would give 3/5 simply because the flaw in the storyline but it makes sense the movie and ...
