Hi, I'm Andy and I used to be a teacher in Bath ... but I'm not now. I want to be an astronaut when I grow up and visit Mars. And I want Christina Ricci to knock on my door and say, "Hello, big boy, where have you been all my life."

Halloween 4 gives us a worthy follow up to Halloween. Michael Myers is back in Haddonfield after escaping from a secure hospital, naturally by killing lots of people in various bloody ways, and is now looking for his 8 year old niece, Jamie, played by Danielle Harris.
The film revolves around how Michael slowly brings himself back to health whilst tracking Jamie, and how Jamie, who is disturbed by her mothers death some years before, slowly realises that she is being tracked down.
The film has lots of gore and bloody bits in it, but in between the film really succeeds in building up a sense of tension, tightening the screw to almost unbearable proportions in the middle sequence where Jamie and the police are baracaded into the Sherrif's house, aware that Michael Myers is somewhere outside (or is he?)
There is also a great deal of tension when we first meet Jamie, unable to sleep because of nightmares - it certainly made me jump when she went back to her bedroom! (say no more...)
Donald Pleasance is his usual spooky self, but the star of the show has to be Danielle Harrison as young Jamie, who puts in a very convincing performance as a disturbed young girl plagued by the 'boogyman', and gets the chance to scream lots and lots.
The twist at the end is truly disturbing!

Spot on Peppermint! I think this was the best of the Halloween sagas for its production qualities alone. It's just a shame they went downhill afterwards.
