Halloween is THE teen-slasher movie, and until 'Blair Witch Project', it was the highest grossing independent movie of all time. The story goes: after being imprisoned for fifteen years in a mental hospital for the murder of his sister, Michael Myers has escaped to wreck havoc in the town where he first began his killings. Directed by horror legend John Carpenter, and starring 'scream queen' Jamie Lee Curtis and veteran actor Donald Pleasance, this is a piece of great horror fimmaking, and the movie set in celluloid the many cliches that would be copied in the on-going sequals and knock-offs to date. But with all the copycats, the memorable, eerie music composed by John Carpenter, and the unforgettable opening sequence, keeps this movie fresh. So, if you love slasher flicks, you will love this movie. 5 out of 5

Audio Commentary Halloween - A Cut Above The Rest (1:27:07) On Location - 25 Years Later (10:35) Theatrical Trailer TV Spots Radio Spots Talent Bios Poster and Still Gallery 8 page Booklet
With all the behind the scenes information in the booklet, commentary, and the two featurettes, no stone is left untouched, but it can one stone can be touched many times over, and so can be repetitive for the viewer. 'Halloween-A Cut Above The Rest' is worth the price of the dvd alone, with almost everyone from the production contrbutingto the documentary, which explores every inch of the behind the scenes work. The commentary isn't one of the best Carpenter has done. This commentary is cut together with John Carpenter, Debra Hill and Jamie Lee Curtis. Carpenter and Hill are a bit dry in the commentary, but Curtis brings some good stories about filming the movie. Trailers, etc. fill out the ret of the disc. My only problem with the 2-disc set is that the TV edition of the movie, with extra scenes, is not included. But the extra scenes are discussed and shown in the 'Cut Above The Rest' documentary, but it would have been nice to see where the scenes went in the movie. 4 out of 5
