...then we meet the first guest again. Edward wants to know why there is no waiter in the restaurant. Rik goes searching for Pascal but cannot find him. The chef (an immigrant with no Visa) is lying on the counter and is completely drunk. He swears at Rik until he gives up looking for Pascal. Rik goes to get Eddie to be the waiter and we see him “filing” the bills in a fire. Eddie isn’t the greatest of waiters and offers the guests ... ...and cook while he takes the orders.
The chef eats loads of food and puts the rest in the disposal machine to get at Rik. When Eddie goes in the kitchen, we hear what can only be described as World War 3 and Eddie emerges to say that Chef hit his head seventeen times on a frying pan and won’t be cooking for the foreseeable future. Eddie is told to take over in the kitchen.
Edward’s female companion asks where the eggs come from that ...

...the seedy hotel masters of Guest House Paradiso. You've already guessed the plot, you've got a fair idea of the violence that follows, so how does it all add up? To be honest, this is a bridge too far for a comic duo who belong on the live stage together. Bereft of the energy that comes from a heckling audience, they try every trick in the book to drag out a ninety minute success story. Unfortunately, it's half baked and descends in to reckless chaos ... ...the vital ingredient in making Guest House Paradiso a hit or a miss. With Mayall and Edmondson, you have two veteran performers with a fine knack for comic awareness. They know how to rally off of each other and produce some laugh out loud moments. But despite an honorable effort, the mindless violence loses its shock factor and it's only downhill from there.
Written by the stars of the movie themselves, Rik and Ade have worked together for a long ...

A Bigger Bottom Review ofGuest House Paradiso DVDby
Shanksey
Advantages: Bottom As It Is Meant to Be Disadvantages: None Worth Mentioning
Guest House Paradiso is a cinema extension of Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson’s Bottom. It’s how bottom wanted to be on the small screen but couldn’t because of censorship. This film is lewd, crude and puerile. It’s also very funny, if you like Bottom. If you don’t, then Guest House Paradiso is probably not for you.
The film is set in a dilapidated old guest house which is situated on the edge of a cliff, right next to a nuclear power plant. For very ... ...to Twat), desperately wants his guest house to be a success. Unfortunately, he unhappy with the type of guest the place is attracting. For example, Mr. Johnson and is common law wife often get the full force of Richie’s disdain. In keeping with his character from Bottom, Richie is an absolute pervert. He spies on a honeymooning couple and even goes so far as to steal some red, spiky rubber underwear from Mrs. Nice. His efforts to hide when he is ...

Advantages: feature length Bottom episode Disadvantages: not that great, not to everyone's tatse
...little about the Film **
Guest House Paradiso for those who have not seen it is basically a feature length episode of Bottom, one of the crudest TV shows to ever be on BBC2. The film is basically a bit more crude a bit more rude and has a larger budget that the TV series had! This just adds to the effects being just that little bit better than they are in the TV series. The film contains all of the usual antics from Ritchie and Eddie, basically ... ...(this is very well choreographed).
** Special Effects **
The special effects are not that great, but then Bottom was very cheaply made and it would not be right if everything was too good. The stunts that were performed were very good, as were the typical fight scenes between Eddie and Ritchie!
** Cast **
Rik Mayal – Ritchie Twat (pronounced Thwait!)
Adrian Admonson – Eddie
Simon Pegg (from Spaced, the Channel Four Comedy Series)

...certain sympathetic charm. But in Guest House Paradiso, he is just an arrogant, smarmy b****** who you'll quickly love to watch die. Eddie, thankfully, is just plain Eddie. Stupidly luck in life. What little there is of plot is so diluted and stretched that you really don't care what's going on. In fact, you'd have probably switched off by the time Richy gets completely roasted. Sadly its only a movie.... In case you can't tell, I was very upset ...

DVD Description
Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall, co-creators and stars of BOTTOM, present this bawdy comedy starring themselves as Eddie and Richie Twat (pronounced Thwaite), the owners of the Guesthouse Paradiso, a foul, malodorous Hotel in a permanent state of disrepair and situated next to a nuclear power plant. Something of a cross between BOTTOM and FAWLTY TOWERS, the film's plot finds the hotel's diminished staff put into a tizzy by the arrival of Gina Carbonara, a beautiful Italian movie star. However, the makeshift cook somehow acquires some seafood that has been irradiated by the nearby plant, thus producing some serious gastrointestinal stress on the guests.
