I suspect I'm not exactly the target market for this book - I was twenty-one when I got it for Christmas - but that doesn't mean to say I don't enjoy reading it. Based on the BBC series (and including many quotes from the programme's featured contributing "grumpyoldwomen") this is a kind of condensed offering of the content they packed into the series.
Because "Santa got it for me" I'm not supposed to know it cost £9.99 when new (judging by the quoted price on this site, the sale price has quietly fallen since 2005 when first published) but my mum forgot to do her usual "snipping the corner off the dust jacket" trick, so I do. As much as I enjoy it, even I must concede that a tenner is on the dear side for a book of this size - if I was in a sceptical frame of mind, I might suggest this is another clever ploy by BBC Books to inflate ...
Advantages: Awesome episodes - a classic t.v. sitcom produced to be as the original was Disadvantages: not sharper image, no extras

The DVD is a simple set up and plays striaght on to the episodes, you can select play all, or view one by one. It contains the whole of series one of the young ones. The episodes are as follows; 1. Demolition. This is the first one ever and we see an intro duction to all the characters, including the landlord who has various other roles throughout the series. The basic plot appart from setting up and introducing characters is that the guys are living in their accomodation they have done for some time when one day they recieve a letter from the council informing them that their house is to be demolished. Naturally Vyvyan throws a tantrum and decides to beat them to the job ...
Advantages: Understandable, Fantastic Material Disadvantages: Can't think of any! - not enough episodes?!!
I saw part of the series of this on TV and when I realised there was a DVD of it I had to buy it!
I'm female and some things I found could be taken in an offensive manner but to be honest I watched it with an open mind and even found myself laughing at things that ridiculed women!
