Grounded For Life - Series 1 (DVD)

The DVD is a simple set up and plays striaght on to the episodes, you can select play all, or view one by one. It contains the whole of series one of the young ones. The episodes are as follows; 1. Demolition. This is the first one ever and we see an intro duction to all the characters, including the landlord who has various other roles throughout the series. The basic plot appart from setting up and introducing characters is that the guys are living in their accomodation they have done for some time when one day they recieve a letter from the council informing them that their house is to be demolished. Naturally Vyvyan throws a tantrum and decides to beat them to the job... Read review

...com is then a series of various events and their consequences to all parties. So the first DVD in the set has the six episodes of Series One which were originally broadcast in 1975. Plough Your Own Furrow This is the episode which sets the scene for the whole series. We are introduced to the four main characters - Richard Briers as Tom, Felicity Kendall as Barbara, (the late) Paul Eddington as Jerry and Penelope Keith as Margot. It's Tom's 40th birthday and he isn't happy working the daily grind as a draughtsman. He wants to change his life but can't decide how - he knows 'it' is out there but can't find out what 'it' is. Eventually he realises that he wants to drop out of the rat race completely and become self sufficient. After discussing the plan with Barbara they decide to go ahead. Advantages: A fantastic fantastic series
Disadvantages: Some of the 70s references will be lost on younger people.

...by compelling plot and complex characters. The DVD Extras are pretty good too (though perhaps there are a little fewer than I'd of liked, but I think I' m just being to eager to enjoy more things about the series) with commentaries and documentaries. Life On Mars is a great DVD set and I highly recommend it.... Read review
