Review of Family Guy - Series 5 - Complete (Box Set) by jimcongreve

Advantages: More Family Guy is never a bad thing
Disadvantages: We have to wait for the next series now.

...The greatest animated sitcom there has been and there will ever be. The Family Guy complete series 5 DVD is a must have for anyone who likes a laugh. Witty and insightful, cutting and in some places just plain rude. This series is even more cutting than pervious and is even funnier as a result. The episodes are initially shown in the states and there is some confusion over which episodes are in which series. Our series 5 is the US series 4 when released on DVD so be sure to check you are getting all new episodes. Series 6 will be out soon and the episodes I have seen indicate Family Guy is going from strength to strength. The episodes run in a set order but it makes little difference if you watch the show in the order it was released. The episodes are: • PTV • Brian Goes Back to College • The Courtship of Stewie... Gripping to begin with, then cold ...
Review of Cold Grip DVD by stu-willis

Advantages: Fast-moving, original
Disadvantages: Unsatisfying finale

...A man meets a woman in a taxi and later accepts her invitation of a one-night-stand. But, the morning after, he is alarmed to find she has left his bed and scrawled a message on his mirror in lipstick - implying she has given him AIDS ... The man understandably freaks out, then collects his thoughts and plans his brutal revenge ... A slickly edited and attractively shot low-budget horror thriller, COLD GRIP uses the novel theme of AIDS as a murder weapon in a superbly acted and initially gripping film. For the first hour, COLD GRIP is genuinely tense - and looks great considering it's HD Video origins. But it all gets a bit samey and runs out of ideas in the final 20 minutes or so. The DVD has no extras, save for a couple of trailers.... Read review

Kolchak - The Night Stalker TV series
Review of Kolchak: The Night Stalker - The Complete Series (Box Set) by BigCS

Advantages: Thrills, Chills and Laughs all the way!
Disadvantages: no extras, and sadly no subtitles for those who need them

...of the series proved! My only tiny complaint is that there are no extras on the discs, but just having the full series is bonus enough as some of them had never been shown on UK television. There is a bit more.... the series was actually made on the back of 2 of the most sucessful TV movies ever made - The Night Stalker, and sequel the Night Strangler. If you can track those down on DVD as well, you're in for a treat. Oh yes, there is a mistake in the Amazon listing - it says 3 discs... it's not, there are 5 discs with 4 episodes per disc, making it better value than it would appear.... Read review
