Gremlins, I'm sure, is a family favourite of many. The BBC plays it every Christmas and I relish the little devils every time. The film starts with a desperate inventor father searching for the perfect present for his adolescent son on Christmas. In a last effort he goes into a strange Chinese shop, full of weird and wonderful things but nothing quite as interesting as what he sees next. He is shown a little gremlin creature, unlike anything he has ever seen before. Instantly, he knows, this is the present to end his disastrous shopping trip, offerering the store owner any price he's filled with excitement. Only to be told the gremlin is not for sale. He sneakily manages to buy the gremlin and returns home to present his son with the amazing gift. He reminds his son the three rules about the gremlin, the most important being, never to let it near water. As soon as we hear this, we know, there's gunna be trouble! As the film goes on we see the adorable gremlins grow and grow, but we know this is definately not a good thing. You have to watch the film to see what happens, but I have to tell you, it's a goodun alright! Funny but still sticking to the horror genre, this film really is a classic and I highly recommend it to anyone that loves a good laugh and can't resist the little cute gremlins!

Advantages: Really good selection of extras and quite an enjoyable film. Disadvantages: A few scenes not suitable for small children and a whole new dictionary of words to learn.
