...on my absolute favourite show Green Wing to see what others thought about it and was amazed there wasn't a single review written! So, Lauricha to the rescue!
** Please note: The series is rude at times and although I don't swear etc. there may be content that some readers may find offensive in this review.**
What's it about?
Green Wing focuses on the day to day workings of various 'professionals' in East Hampton Hospital. I say 'professionals' ... ...actions of some staff will leave you praying that those people don't really exist (one example, the Staff Liaison Officer Sue White gets all her clothes from the 'dead' box. It took her 4 days to get her boots from a stroke victim.) You won't see any patients in this hospital, apart from the random child used to pick up women. We follow the lives and foibles of the HR girls, surgeons, neurologists, students and more. Who makes it?

Advantages: Funny Disadvantages: But perhaps not to all
"As you've seen from your actual in-depth bowel tour of an actual working hospital, it's basically full of sick people who desperately want to get better but a lot of them don't and they die in pain, any questions?"
(Or: Introduction.)
My good friend Tessa has a wonderful ability to be able to laugh at practically anything. And whenever I've watched her sitting on the sofa chuckling away at Friends or Little Britain or Cheers or the irony of Neighbours ... ...that I tend to be incredibly picky about my comedy. I must have a very specific set of values which are obviously entirely the wrong sort for TV sitcoms, because most of them appear to be complete shite. And so when I do stumble across a comedy that I like - a comedy that's original and clever and sharp and not full of canned laughter - then I will stand up and applaud it as loudly as I possibly can, in the hope that someone will hear and commission ...

Advantages: its hilariously funny Disadvantages: none
...the soon-to-air first series of Green Wing appeared on our screens. I thought that they gave off a good image, of a could-be great show. However, I missed the first episode and only remembered the next day when I heard my friends talking about it. I quickly asked if it was good expected my friend to scream 'good? good? is was amazing!!' but no, sadly, they said 'its ok I guess, a bit rubbish'. Well, I decided that it cant have been that good, and ... ...I started watching the second series, I realised what I was missing, and the series 1 DVD set was bought for me for christmas (Thank you Mike!!). Pretty handy really, or I wouldnt have been able to review it.
The box comes in a sturdy plastic sleeve, and the 'box' itself folds out to reveal 3 discs. Each disc has 3 episodes on it along with extras. I was very impressed to see that the series had 9 episodes, considering most sit-coms have series ...

...myself of the first!!
Green Wing is a BAFTA award winning comedy series that is shown on Channel 4 and produced by Talkback Thames. Produced by the same team as Smack the Pony.
It is set in East Hampton Hospital and follows Dr Caroline Todd (Tamsin Griegg) on her first day in her new job, and well beyond, showing the antics of all the hospital staff behind the backs of the patients. Not that there really appear to be any patients (except for the ... ...appears to be doing any work.
There are characters from almost all aspects of hospital life:
Dr Caroline Todd - a slightly scatty doctor, who is constantly having bad hair days and is rather disorganised (kinda reminds me of myself in some ways!!).She cannot quite decide whether it is Mac or Guy that she fancies.
Dr 'Mac' Macartney - (Julien Rhind-Tutt) The effortlessly laid back head surgeon, who says he is not ginger, and has various members ...

Advantages: Hysterical Disadvantages: There's just not enough of it
Green Wing is unlike any other medical drama/ comedy that you might have watched - it\'s far more surreal and there are hardly any patients. The action revolves around the hospital staff, starting on Dr Caroline Todd\'s first day. She immediately falls foul of lothario anesthetist Guy Secretan, while surgeon Dr. \'Mac\' looks on.
Side action comes in the form of Dr. Alan Statham, Consultant Radiologist, who should clearly be locked up in an entirely ... ...obsessed with her age and delights in tormenting anyone who crosses her path. She regularly comes to blows with staff liaison Sue White, a foul-mouthed Scot who is obsessed with Dr. Mac.
Fast-paced and hysterical, the DVD offering is enhanced with an excellent selection of deleted scenes, some audio commentaries and a behind-the-scenes featurette. ...

DVD Description
GREEN WING follows new surgical registrar Dr Caroline Todd (Tamsin Greig) through her first day at work and beyond as she encounters a number of eccentric members of staff. She meets an assortment of bizarre and demented characters including: Guy Secretan (Stephen Mangan), the smooth talking part-Swiss anaesthetist and all-round misogynist; Dr. Alan Statham (Mark Heap)--possibly one of the kinkiest doctors on the ward--a man whose affliction is to think out loud (something that the cheeky intern Boyce likes to exploit quite frequently); then there's the dashing, but aloof, Dr. 'Mac' Macartney (Julian Rhind-Tutt), whom Caroline may or may not have a crush on. Created by the team behind SMACK THE PONY, GREEN WING combines the cream of British comedy actors, inventive use of editing--in which sequences are often sped up and slowed down--and an offbeat sense of humour to create an unusual and imaginative comedy.
