plays the stereotyped blonde 'hot chick' type role quite well I guess.
Expect plenty of over exaggerated scenes, some slapstick and a sort of retro feel to the movie, which it clearly has (although it doesn't appear to be set then as CDs are used but from the stunt costumes and the music played in the background and other things, I thought it had quite a late 70s or 80s 'feel' to it).
This is pretty zany and daft and I feel a bit of a spoof on other more serious teen movies and it does well as this. There's also a similarity to the 'Karate Kid' movies (again with the 70s feel to it), with scenes involving Rod doing Tai Chi and getting to know his more spiritual side, thanks to Denise.

I've just been to see my brother who's just got back in the country the other day having been out to Dubai on business. We said the usual 'hellos' and what-not but then he asks me if I've seen a film called 'Hot Rod'. Apparently he watched it on the plane back to the UK, thought it was fantastic and asked if I wanted to watch it now. You've got to bear in mind that by watching the film we would have missed the football on TV so the film must have been a cut above the rest!
It was. The story is the usual american mr. nobody comes good formula but where this differs is that whenever it appears that it is going to get disgustingly saccharin it side-swipes you and makes you laugh your pants off. Advantages: Lots of fun and entertainment. Disadvantages: Can be predictable and farfetched.
One thundery night a box is accidentally abandoned in the middle of the road by a traveling circus. Nolan Walsh is driving along this road and comes across the box and discovers a baby zebra inside. He decides to take the zebra home to his farm next door to a racing track. Nolans daughter Channing names him Stripes.
As stripes is growing up he decides he is going to race at the local track, not knowing in fact he is not a race horse. Stripes sets about training for his dream using things such as the mail truck to race against as practice. On the farm he makes many friends such as Tucker, Franny and reggie.
