As it is coming up to Easter, I've been rummaging through my bookcase to find relevant books for the different age groups I teach.
I have the Nursery children for a short spell once a week and happened upon this lovely book by Harriet Ziefert.

This author has written literally hundreds of children's books, mostly picture and easy to read ones.
She was born in New Jersey and it is obvious from the books that I have read by her that she has a background in education, once being a elementary (primary) school teacher.
~ The Story ~
It's a very simple story with Nicky's (a kitten) Mum sending her off an Easteregghunt.
The kitten looks everywhere:
* in the tree
* in the long reeds of grass
* behind the rock etc
Until she finally finds it in the Easter basket with her name on it.
~ Style ...
Advantages: Good value for money. Disadvantages: Can break quite easily.
Having just broken up for the Easter hols, we celebrated our last day at school with an Easteregghunt for my Reception class. Our timing had to be spot on so that we could hide the eggs in the playground and get the hunt over with before the next downpour, interspersed with little flurries of snow!
Not wanting to spend a fortune but have fun at the same time, I came across these at Woolworths.

These are approx 5cm length and a good size for little hands to hold on to.

Before I begin this review I must apologise for ciao's specific critera options, they bear no relevance to the book but I had to fill them in so as to publish the review..............gremlins!!
Anyone who has read my previous reviews will know that I am a huge fan of Eric Hill books for young children and this book is no exception.
~ Spot's First Easter ~
Spot and his friend, Helen the hippo go on an Easteregghunt that Sally, Spot's Mum has said the Easter Bunny has hidden.
They ask how many eggs have been hidden and the Easter Bunny, hiding behind a lift-the-flap bush says "Shh! Six". Instantly the reader knows more than Spot and Helen.
And so they go on a hunt, looking under flowerpots, behind sacks, under the stairs.
I particularly like this book as there isn't an egg in each place that the pair look.
