Advantages: Wonderful cinematography evocing the painter's work and Johannson's outstanding performance Disadvantages: Some may regard it as a bit slow and you may only be interested if you like the premise or art
...cinematographic style and exposition. Fortunately Alexandre Desplat's complementing musical score helps to maintain pace and attention. Not only is this an enjoyable film, but it also helps to bring to general attention a talented young actress. Johansson is certainly one to watch in the future, if not just this month in both 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' and 'Lost in Translation'. When faced by the original painting in the film's final moments, Johansson may not be the spitting image, but the spirit can clearly be seen throughout.

Advantages: beautiful story, acting and location Disadvantages: the sad bit at the end!
..., and the ending satisfying, even though a little upsetting (you have been warned!). The music brings the light and life together, composed by Alexandre Desplat (Girl with a Pearl Earring), and adds real depth to the emotions and actions. It won Best Score at the Golden Globes 2007. The costumes - smart suits, elegant flapper dresses and parasols for Kitty - also brought the film together, beautifully designed by Ruth Myers. They could have come straight from the 1920s.
After seeing it, I had to buy it for myself. I'm a huge fan of costume dramas, which this film is, as well as the most beautiful kind of love story. It is rated as 12, as it one moderate sex scene, as well as some disturbing images. I bought my copy from Fopp, for £6, but it is also available at HMV for £5.99 and Zavvi for £7.99.
It is a definite must-see, with some tissues. =)...

Cheesy Gold Gun Review ofThe Man With The Golden Gun DVDby
MarcusPerkins
Advantages: Disadvantages:
...The highlights of The Man With The Golden Gun are Scaramanga's three nipples and his flying car, the odd Chop-Socky fight sequence, and a tremendous stunt featuring Bond's car doing a 360 degree flip across a river.
Christopher Lee ought to have been a fantastic Bond villain. But for most of the film Scaramanga is charming and polite towards Bond, making it clear he wishes him no harm
The Man With The Golden Gun was a disappointment at the box-office. It would be three years before Bond was back. This was also establishing a comic aura to the Bond character that Connery had played with grit....
