Advantages: Nicolas Cage Disadvantages: A bit predictable
...with action including a very fast car chase that totally wrecks the streets of SanFrancisco. Sean and Nic play their roles well and I thoroughly enjoyed this film.
I visited Alcatraz last summer and was informed that the tunnels that appear in the film in which Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery enter Alcatraz by do not exist. This is your usual good vs. evil film in which well you can guess who wins. I liked the story although it was quite predictable in places. Also, the fact that Sean and Nic managed to save the day by themselves was a bit unbelievable.
Nether the less this film was enjoyable and if you like action then you will like this film. I’m a big fan of both Nicolas Cage and of Sean Connery so this film was a must for me....

Rob Schneider excels in the SanFrancisco scenes, giving the best homeless guy performance since Steve Buscemi in Big Daddy and being responsible for many of the film's biggest laughs. Owen Wilson and brother Luke show up as the down-to-earth Wright Brothers, and Kathy Bates appears as the Queen of England.
These cameos are a highlight of the film, and rise above some of the leading performances from the international cast. Among them, Chan and De France have charisma which shines through, beyond their obvious language difficulties. Steve Coogan looks the part, but he is wooden as the rather dull protagonist.
Rob Schneider succeeds in getting lots of laughs in his short appearance as a SanFrancisco hobo. Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Advantages: Jackie Chan fight sequences, silly fun Disadvantages: REALLY silly, a plot you could fish with, and a travesty to literature
..."We have reached a golden age - anything that can be invented, has been."
Perhaps it's because such a statement is so easy to believe of our own time that there remains such appeal in the science of Victorian London, when man flying in the air was nothing but a flight of fancy, and electricity was a novelty, let alone the myriad contraptions we now take for granted (and which are useless as soon as there's a power cut). Yes, it's fun to look back to a day when circumnavigating the globe in three months would be a feat almost beyond fancy!
Jules Verne's classic tale of inventor Phileas Fogg and his wager (not a 'bet', you see - he's a gentleman) to travel around the world in eighty days has made several appearances on screen. Does anyone else remember the cartoon version where Phileas was a lion? Ahem. Last seen on the big screen...
