Wow!
What a cast, with the likes of Pacino, Lemmon, Spacey, Baldwin, Harris you would expect an awful lot from this film.

That's one of the biggest flaws in this film really, the expectation is so great, it was impossible to live up to it.

The plot:

Set in a the real-estate business, the pressure is high. If you dont close the deal, you dont get the pay. That's the whole emphasis of this film, seeing the lengths these businessmen/con-artists will go to secure a sale.

This is especially important for Jack Lemmon's character Shelley who has gone way past his prime and is being over-shadowed by the young guns, led by Al Pacino (Ricky Roma).

What would you do to earn a living? This is the sort of thought-provoking questions that this film raises.

It's a dark, tense film set maily in a small office, so don't expect any SFX cos you wont get them, this film is all about character development and storyline.
You really do begin to relate to the characters, you feel the pain Shelley is going through and you empaphise with him.

I have to admit to feeling a little dissapointed when i first saw this film, it is only 96 minutes long and has no real ending so you come away thinking 'what was that all about?'

But this passes and you reflect on what was a solid film, with a deservedly oscar-nominated performance from pacino as the highlight.

You may wish to rent this first time round as it will not be to everyone's taste i can guarantee.
Try before you buy is the best advice i can give, you may feel you then want to relive it or forget it, it's up to you.
