Advantages: Unusual, interesting place with lots to do and see. Disadvantages: Having to leave at the end of the day!
When I ask people to think of Glastonbury, they always associate it with music, mud and madness. When I tell people I've been to Glastonbury, they always assume I mean the festival. In actual fact, I've never been to Glastonbury Festival (which actually takes place in a farmer's field just outside Glastonbury in another village). Instead, for the last 6 years, I have visited Glastonbury, the place. Glastonbury is a wonderful, spiritual town that is often overlooked, yet it offers so much more than people think.
HISTORICAL MONUMENTS
Glastonbury is full of history and is the proud parent of several magical monuments. Firstly, there is the Glastonbury Tor. The Tor is much more to the inhabitants and visitors of Glastonbury than just a Tor. The mound has carried with it myths and legends right back from Neolithic times and once ...

with the Muslim mantra, before playing Sonnet and a few other songs. The picked up an electric 12-string guitar for Time And Space, but even this couldn't save them from being average, so I walked round to the Other Stage for Groove Armada. A few minutes after I arrived, they played the song from the Renault TV advert, and had everybody dancing around energetically.
Overall, it was the most dissappointing lineup for many years, with no real headliners, several bands playing twice (and a couple playing no less than four different times!), and also a few gaps in the schedule (listed as "special guests" or "TBA"). It was probably the worst Glastonbury I'd been to - although it's not as if I didn't have a good time (I did have a great time) - it's just that expectations are always high, and other Glastos have been better.

Advantages: music, entertainment, atmosphere, participation, sun Disadvantages: rain, mud, finding people
You have to have an open mind to go to Glastonbury, follow the advice and be prepared to rough it a bit. Only then can you have an amazing time.
The boring bit is safety; look after your valuables and sleep with them at the bottom of your sleeping bag, leave nothing in the entrance of your tent. I heard lots of horror stories, but by taking simple steps or using the free property lock-ups there shouldn't be an issue.
Next, plan some of what you want to see using the programme, and then have a wander around to get a feel for the place and what is where. Look out for different food places, toilets and tents, although you may not find them again.
Then be prepared for a good time. Lots of dancing and craziness; people dressed as fairies, weird shows, tea tents, street theatre, cake, music, film, families, art. And participation ...
