Gladiator DVD

Advantages: Where do you start? Acting, effects, dialogue, music. This is a modern epic.
Disadvantages: Mr Phoenix is a little weak in some scenes, some of the battle scenes overly gory

...I got the Gladiator DVD for Christmas and spent the next few days watching it several times. We all know its a great film, cinematically fantastic, and a stunning performance from Russel Crowe, and the extras on the second DVD are really good. Dialogue is good, effects are good, acting is quite good, though Joaquem (sp?) Phoenix wasn't really of the same standard as some of the others. The film makes a big effort to recapture the feeling that you are in Imperial Rome, and to a fairly large extent that comes off. The music is really good, I dont think anyone would argue with that, and the final scene is one of the best endings I have seen in a long time. ...This is one great movie, and one definately to own. The storyline was great, great effects, and great acting. What can i say but a great movie. Had to buy this on DVD. Its a 2 disk set, with loads of extras and shows the out-takes. If you own a dvd player, buy it....if you don't own a dvd player, go out and buy one, then get Gladiator on DVD. The DVD is presented in Anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 surround sound the DVD is a joy to watch. Though the story is largely fictional, Gladiator uses actual historical figures and tells its story in the context of the events of the day. This is the kind of film is that which makes 'Blockbusters', it is packed with action and good special affects. Advantages: Stunning graphics
Disadvantages: A bit long

...Gladiator is one of the best films ever made... Its a film about a Gladiator... set back in the time of Ceaser, in the time of Ancient Rome and when men wore leather skirts and metal helmets. This film has an excellent story line, and you'll never get bored of this film. The special effects and graphics for Ancient Rome are stunning and the film recreation of the Coliseums... its magnificent and breath taking. Gladiator has got some very gruesome fight scenes, men getting chooped in half and heads being lopped off. Gladiator is a must see film... it has action, drama and a bit of romance...... Read review

...The Gladiator special edition DVD is amazing, an instant classic. You have firstly the film, which is brilliant. It stars Russell Crowe as Gladiator who goes from being war general to slave on a roller coaster ride which causes him to rise again to have his vengeance on Caesar. However, what makes this DVD stand out from the rest, is not only the film itself, but the special features included on the second bonus DVD. These features include: 50 min learning channel special 25 min making of feature Deleted Scenes Lucius's production journal Storyboard Comparisons Plus much much more.
