Girls Aloud are a British girlband consisting of five members ; Nadine Coyle , Cheryl Cole , Sarah Harding , Nicola Roberts and Kimberly Walsh. Girls Aloud were formed on the reality television show ; Popstars The Rivals in 2002. Since then they have become a huge success. To date they have had eighteen top ten singles , including three number ones. Their style of music consists of pop and electro pop.
It is not really until recently that Girls Aloud have gained major fame. Yes , they were famous before , but I felt that they were just a 'band-in-the-background' as I would call it , and not as 'big' as the likes of Take That and The Spice Girls. However , now the girls are 'mega-big' (I feel Cheryl's participation on the X Factor may have something to do with this!) and are not only recognised for their great music, but also for their clothes.
Style was released in the United Kingdom on November 12th 2007. This is Girls Aloud's fifth DVD. The DVD contains both Fashion/Beauty tips as well as all the band's music videos.
The DVD begins with the band talking about their music videos commenting on the clothes ther were wearing in the videos. This part is interesting and lets you know that even celebrities have 'Why did I wear that ?' moments!.
The girls then go on to talk individually about different things : Cheryl teaches us about Make up , Nadine tells us about shoes , Kimberly gives her tips on internet shopping , Nicole shares her views on finding the right pair of jeans and finally Sarah gives her tips on accessorizing. Once that's over , the rest of the DVD contains all the music videos from Sound of The Underground right up to Sexy!No , No No! which was the current single at the time of the DVDs release. There is even an 'optional' bit where you can choose to have Cheryl and Sarah discussing each video which is good if you're a fan of the band.
Firstly , I was extremely surprised when I first watched this DVD as I had expected it to be ALL about Fashion and Beauty , so when I saw that it contained a lot of music videos (sixteen in total) it was a shock. It's good if you're a fan though , but I found that having all the videos on the DVD was a waste of money as one , they could have released another DVD with all the videos on and added more 'style' to this DVD and secondly Girls Aloud 'all the videos' shows are almost always on the music channels and so I can watch the videos anytime.
When I heard about this DVD I wasn't really sure how it would work as I thought the clothes and style would go out of fashion after a couple of months. However , the tips featured are 'general tips' and therefore will be valuable for ever!
One criticism I have is how Nicola tells us how to find a pair of jeans. As much as I like Nicola , I don't think her tips will help me find the right pair of jeans , as one , I am probably about four sizes bigger than Nicola and also she has a totally different body shape to me , and so unless you have a figure similar to Nicola's will her tips help you!
I really enjoyed this DVD and if you're a fan of the girls or you're a fashionista then this DVD is perfect!
