Girls Aloud are a British girlband consisting of five members ; Nadine Coyle , Cheryl Cole , Sarah Harding , Nicola Roberts and Kimberly Walsh. Girls Aloud were formed on the reality television show ; Popstars The Rivals in 2002. Since then they have become a huge success. To date they have had eighteen top ten singles , including three number ones. Their style of music consists of pop and electro pop.
Girls Aloud : Off The Record was actually a six-part series that Girls Aloud recorded for E4. The series was then released on DVD in the United Kingdom in 2006. The show comes under the reality-tv genre. The show follows Girls Aloud on their day to day life as part of one of Britian's top girl bands..
It wasn't until recently that I knew about this DVD when I saw it sitting on a shelf in Woolworths for £6.
I enjoyed watching this DVD as it gives a real insight into what life is really like for members of a successful pop group. All the members of Girls Aloud are really genuine and down to earth , so it is nice to see how successful five normal girls have become. Not only do we get to see their 'working' lives , we also get an insight into their personal lives , and get to meet members of the girl's families. If you're a football fan , then you may be interested to hear that Ashley Cole makes an appearance on this DVD. (Those of you who don't know , Ashley is married to Cheryl).
Considering Girls Aloud's fan base consists of young girls , I was surprised that the DVD contains a lot of swearing. There is also some 'drunken' scenes which I wouldn't consider appropriate , considering their fans look up to the girls as role models. Although looking at the positive side , at least the DVD shows the real girls and not the 'perfect' versions of them that we see on the television.
The member of Girls Aloud which I found to stand out was Cheryl. She was so funny! I found myself in hysterics a lot of the time!
I would definitely recommend this DVD even if you are not a Girls Aloud fan! You won't be disappointed!
