assuring me that even though I?d hated the book, I?d definitely love the film.
Midnight Cowboy tells the story of Joe Buck, a young and naïve pseudo cowboy Texan dishwasher who decides to move to New York, having heard that a lot of money can be made there through working as a stud for rich women. Feeling that sex is the only thing he?s ever in his life been good at and thus seeing countless dollar signs in front of his eyes, Joe leaves Texas on a Greyhound bus, dressed in full cowboy gear, carrying a single suitcase and armed with his beloved transistor radio.
On arriving in the big city, Joe signs himself into a hotel and begins to learn the ways of the big wide world. Though fascinated at first, Joe very quickly learns that the Big Apple isn?t quite the mecca of fame and riches he was hoping for. He very soon runs out of money ...

The Midnight Warning is a 1932 film directed by Spencer Gordon Bennett
A famous nerve doctor is reading the paper in his hotel room when he is visited by his private detective friend, Cornish, who has lately solved a case that has made him famous. Mr. Doctor (We'll call the doctor Mr. Doctor for I can't remember his name) has found a human ear bone in the fire place and shows it to Cornish, at first of course they find it rather strange but don't look too much into it. The two men talk and joke when suddenly Mr. Doctor falls to the ground. Cornish calls the hotel staff and they bring the house medical staff. They put Mr. Doctor's collapse down to nothing more than a rush of blood to the head and his cut was probably the result of him hitting his head off something but Cornish notices something strange about the way they're acting ...
Advantages: fun, throwaway Disadvantages: unfaithful, silly, too long, dull, unlikeable characters, Vinny Jones is very off-putting
and characters that let it down. Most of the words spoken are only really there to further the story, and it's difficult to get invested in the characters, as despite having in depth backgrounds, their personas are not particularly strong.
It is worth a watch once but definitely not worth owning on DVD, as there is a bit too much cgi-gore and slightly silly eye-popping action, memorable as it may be, to render it especially re-watchable. Overall, I did not find myself identifying with any of the characters, and found the whole viewing experience a little dull, with many superfluous people and and unnecessarily long runtime. It took itself just a little bit too seriously.
Summary: Worth a watch, instantly forgettable. ...
