**IN CONCLUSION**
A very comical movie with a few rather gripping (albeit humorous) scenes… The story is well written and the special effect are just right for the genre, making it a very easy and enjoyable ghost movie to watch without the need to hide behind a cushion…
Murray, as Venkman, is his usual 'wide boy' with the gift of the gab, (or so he believes), trying his luck with anything in a skirt.. And it's not long before his character is lusting after Dana, (played by Weaver)…
Ramis is brilliant as Spengler, the serious scientist of the group with his mind full of information and knowledge…using big words to baffle the lesser intelligent Venkman…
Aykroyd also does a great acting job as the inquisitive Stantz and finally there's Hudson, who plays Zeddermore, the sort of 'muscles' of the group, giving a near Oscar performance as a terrified ghost hunter….
And not forgetting the usually brilliant, and rather sexy, Sigourney Weaver as Dana, the terrified victim who not only has to protect herself and her son from the prince of darkness, she also has to fend off the clumsy advances from Venkman…
Although a the beginning it may seem a little on the scary side, when the men are investigating paranormal events inside a library and they happen upon a rather gruesome looking librarian, it doesn't take long before you realise that this is definitely a comedy as the story unfolds..
Once the story is unravelled the movie goes at a good pace and will keep everyone entertained right until the very comical, but bizarre finale… briefly involving a very seductive looking Sigourney Weaver, a vicious dog and a giant edible monster….
In all, an entertaining movie which is well worth watching, (if for some reason you've not yet seen it…). The story is one which is easy to follow and will give the audience all they require for a good movie… thrills, a bit of action, comedy and a slice of the old romance….
Would I recommend this….?
Yes I certainly would…
I enjoyed it immensely and could watch it over and over again just for the comical Murrey with his very bad romancing skills and his weird sense of humour..

Advantages: Great innovative film Disadvantages: May not be to everyone's subject liking
1984's Ghostbusters was a huge success, acclaimed critically and commercially. It spawned a huge fanbase and is still strong today. Director Ivan Reitman could not have known what would happen.
The Plot
Three unemployed parapsychology scientists form a company to rid New York of unwanted paranormal presences. With their hi-tech gadgets and exciting grey boiler suits, they set up base in an old firestation, employ a secretary, and pretty soon are ... ...for this to happen. The Ghostbusters must stop this before it's too late.
The Cast and Performances
Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis play the three mad scientists forming the Ghostbusters. They play off each other very well, and the comedy of Bill Murray's Peter Venkman combined with the geekiness of Harold Ramis' Egon Spengler sparks all the way through, kept in check only by Akroyd's sensible Ray Stantz. Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis ...

Ghostbusters is a classic movie with a huge fanbase. Although initially released in 1984, the movie still holds its own today. A very entertaining film indeed! Funny and heart warming are also words that spring to mind! Ghostbusters is a 1984 fantasy comedy about a team of spook-chasing scientists.
THE STORY
When Drs Venkman, Spengler and Stanz are fired from their posts as tutors at a university, they decide to set up their own business as paranormal investigators. They rent a disused fire station, buy an old ambulance and Ghostbusters is born.
Meanwhile, concert cellist Dana Barrett returns home to find her kitchen has been possessed. Who's she gonna call? ... ...close second to Murray in Ghostbusters as the enthusiastic, slightly naïve Dr Stanz. A good comedy character and a fine performance.
Sigourney Weaver was in Alien and Working Girl. As Dana Barrett she is the straight person to Murray, as he tries every trick in the book to get her to go on a date with him. Weaver makes it look easy, another fine performance.
William Atherton as Walter Peck is probably my favourite supporting role of all time. In ...

Advantages: Bill Murray Disadvantages: Unlikely premise, ridiculous climax
Ivan Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS was released in 1984 and garnered success as enormous as its special-effects, but is it a good film?
In New York Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz and Dr. Egon Spengler are paranormal scientists when their government grant runs out and the university where they're based politely asks them to leave. With no base to work from they bite the bullet and set up shop in a run-down fire station, hiring a fourth, Winston Zedmore, ... ...spirit world. GHOSTBUSTERS is an amalgamation of every B-movie ever made condensed into a Hollywood hot-pot of money, A-list stars and special effects; and it works. Personally, I couldn't have asked for more from a blockbuster, and yet thanks to Bill Murray there is much, much more. A wonderful actor, with immense presence, his deadpan humour carries the whole thing all the way, his Dr. Venkman a sarcastic scientist of his own science a much-needed ...

I have not taken any more time to watch any of these features as they really don?t appeal to me. Hubby does quite fancy watching them so if he ever gets around to it then I will come back and update and let you know what he thought of them.
The running time of this film is 1 hour and 41 minutes which I though was quite long enough and the certificate is a PG and I do have to agree with this rating.
We bought this DVD many months ago now for £3 in Woolworths so do shop around for the best possibly price.
I am going to recommend this film as it is pure cheese with good actors and dodgy effects which seem to add to the humour of the film. ...
Advantages: Some funny moments Disadvantages: Not upto scratch on film or DVD extras
This is inferior to the first film in almost every way. It is not totally disappointing, but after the highly amusing first instalment, one cannot help but feel a little let down by this. The cast seem less fresh in this sequel, almost reluctant to be party to this film, in fact. The star is probably Oscar, a baby with a highly impressive range of facial expressions. At least they did not tarnish the legacy of the original any further by making a third. Still some humorous moments, though. As far as the DVD is concerned, both audio and visual are stunning but the disc's special features are light years behind what was done with the GhostbustersDVD. ...
Advantages: Good special effects for it's time, great cast and film music Disadvantages: Not as witty as the original film and storyline is a little too similar
excitable Ghostbusters as they run into a high-class restaurant, soaking in pink slime, exclaiming where the now know where the river of slime is sourced from.
The DVD extras: Disappointing. Only the original trailer, along with very short profiles of the cast, along with the film biographies. Could be alot better, but the DVD quality is good.
I've watched this movie many times, and it always makes me feel great. The music really adds to it including the non-soundtrack classical music, but i always love Bobby Brown's "On Our Own", which comes on 3 different ocassions near the end of the movie. There are some moments where the humour seems to fail ("Doh, Ray....Egon!", i got it, but just not very funny!). However, i don't ponder over the technicalities for this film, as it's a fun ride and a safely entertaining flick with a reliable ...
