Ghost Stories DVD

Advantages: Starts well
Disadvantages: Disappoints towards the end

...well-known actors gave it a classier feel, although I think I would have liked it with or without them. I can't give it more than three stars because of the flaws in the plot, but for anyone who likes thrillers and ghost stories, I really think this is worth a watch. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be available as a region 2 DVD, but the region 1 version, for those of you who have the capability to play it, is available from play.com for £6.36. Advantages: Was there any,
Disadvantages: Storyline is total garbage, plot was utter rubbish.

...I don't know what all the fuss was about, this film was so boring I kept wondering what all the fuss was about. It took me all my time to sit and watch the whole thing. The story was total garbage and the actual movie itself was rubbish. IF you want to see a good film then stay away from this one because you will be bored silly with it. The plot of the film was about friends going out to film about a so called ghost story and they find themselve's getting killed off. Yeah right. I wouldn't pay the money for the DVD I would rather buy myself either another DVD or get myself a new dress.... Read review

...Ghost Story is a strange horror film from 1974. It was directed by Steven Weeks and it is one of my favourite films of all time. This is a DVD review, however, there is no additional footage, there are no out-takes and it looks like it has been converted straight from film. The original was from 1974, so it is unlikely that additions would be available. It was hard enough tracking the film down in the first place ! WARNING>>>>> PLOT SPOILER !!!! The story is about three friends from university, going down to a mansion that had been giving to one of them upon his graduation. It is an old mansion, that he, (McFaden), knows is haunted. He does not make the other two guests aware of this however. McFaden is played by Murray Melvyn, and he is creepy enough, but he has a sort of gayness about him the whole way throughtout the film... Advantages: loads of extras and an excellent film
Disadvantages: no 5.1 or DTS sound

...This has to be the best horror film I have seen for ages. It’s very much like House on a Haunted Hill – in fact, the original was written by the same person. Arthur , his daughter and son inherit a house from their Great Uncle Cyrus who happened to be a ghost hunter while he was alive. Unfortunately the family don’t realise that there are 12 ghosts shut in the house with them. They are trapped inside the house and the ghosts are released one by one. Matthew Lillard plays a great part as a psychic ex-employee of Cyrus. He helped catch the ghosts and also gets trapped in the house. He acts as the “source of knowledge” of the ghosts and explains the story as it goes along very well. The special effects in the film are amazing as is the sound. Advantages: depp,walken with spiky teeth
Disadvantages: bit slow

...Tim Burton directs the story is of a man who was buried but whose head has been dug up and removed. Thus the ghost of the man (headless horseman) wreaks havoc at night by decapitating selected personal from the neighbouring villages and making off with their heads. Johnny Depp, whose character looks strangely like Edward scissor hands (a character from one of his previous roles) is sent into investigate the goings on and thus the film carries on. It's quite a dark film with sparse cast but the story is produced well. There are no special effects... Read review
