If you love stories about the Mary Rose, Marie Celeste or are just interested in the type of horror films in which there is a background story that comes out gradually to a shocking end then this is for you. Contrary to other reviews I love this film.

I did not get it because I wanted to be scared! I wanted a horror with a bit of mystery and to watch the mystery unravel, this to me adds more excitement and anticipation than jumps that everyone expectsa when you watch a horror (which is probably why I like Midsommer Murders and Agatha Christies). Do not get me wrong there are jumpy, gory, scary bits in the film but it is the mystery behind the disappearance of the Antonia Graza that I adore.

A group of salvagers from the ship Artic Warrior, go in search of a large ship an acquaintance of theres has found on a radar. They are in the open sea and all of a sudden litterally hit the Antonia Graza. This really is a Ghost Ship. The story goes according to the Captain of the Salvagers, Sean Murphy (Gabriel Byrnethat) years ago the Antonia Graza disappeared - no one knew how, or why but no trace of her nor survivors had ever been found....until now.

The go on board to explore. Tha place really is a ghost ship! Not in the meaning that there are many ghost but the ships prescence is ghostly. It looks as though the ship was completely abandonned during "one heck of a party" according to Dodge (Ron Eldard), and Munder (Karl Urban).

The heronine of the story is Maureen Epps played by one of my favourite actresses, Julianna Margulies (E.R) soon becomes aware that they are being watched by the ghost of a little girl who was on the ship at the time of the 'disappearance' as the story progresses disaster and death strikes the salvagers as soon as they find some gold in the cargo hold. It soon becomes painfully obvious that the 'disappearance' of the ship has something to do with the gold.

The salvagers in any case, despite impending diaster and a collosal task of their tug boat pulling the Antonia Graza all the way back to port, start to patch her up. One by one they meet their doom all hinged to the greed they have for the gold, one in an explosion, one is crushed, one falls down a lift shaft, one drowns etc

Murphey in his drunken state meets the ghost of Captain of the Antonia Graza and discovers that the Antonia Graza helped the ship the Loreli who was in trouble and that is where the gold came from. Murphey says "But there were no survivors on the Loreli" the Captain nods and holds up a single finger...

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
