Built in 1954, the majestic ocean liner Antonia Graza was the pride of the Italian Line. A true vision of the modern, sleek style, the ship was nothing less than a work of art. T he amenities provided all the passengers with all the luxury needed during their stay on board while they were out at sea, when the guest were not unwinding in their large spacious staterooms, they could be socializing in one of the stylish lounges, enjoy sports and just relax atop the liner's broad decks, or even take a refreshing swim in the stately swimming pool. But the centrepiece of the Antonia Graza had to be the Opulent Grand Ballroom, where couples would dance late into the early hours with the romantic music played by the live orchestra. Meals were cooked day and night by the chefs of superb Italian cuisine that was served in the ship's elegant dining room, and the ship's staff would be on call for there passenger's every need. It was truly the journey of a life time in
more was than one. But when the Antonia Graza set sail for America in the spring of 1962, her passengers were blissfully unaware of the unspeakable evil that would soon befall them, sealing their fates and ensuring that this journey would be their last.
Warner Bros. Picture presents, in assocation with village Roadshow Pictures Ghost Ship, starring JULIANNA MARGULIES,RON ELDARD,DESMOND HARRINGTON, ISAIAH WASHINGTON and GABRIEL BYRNE. Directed by STEVE BECK, the film is produced by JOEL SILVER, ROBERT ZEMECKIS and GILBERT ADLER. The Antonia Graza was reported missing on the 21st of May, 1962 off the coast of Labrador. But the funny thing was there was no distress signal, there was no contact she just disappeared, she was gone. And ever since that day, every Captain and his mother would be looking for her, just hoping that she hadn't gone down.
The salvage crew aboard the tugboat Artic Warrior is the best in the business. Captain Sean Murphy (GABRIEL BYRNE), and with the team leader Maureen Epps(JULIANNA MARGULIES), First Mate Greer(ISAIAH WASHINGTON) and technicians Dodge(RON ELDARD) Munder (KARL URBAN) and Santos(ALEX DIMITRIADES), they can locate any abandoned vessel, patch them up intill they were seaworthy and drag them back to shore for a price. The story really begins when a Canadian Air Force pilot Jack Ferriman (DESMOND HARRINGTON) recruits the team to investigate a mysterious vessel that he says he spotted floating adrift off the coast of Alaska in a remote area of the Bering Sea, But they soon discover it's the remains of the Antonia Graza, thought to be lost at sea over 40 years ago. Its a great find as the salvage rights alone could be worth a fortune. And by the law of the sea, any vessel discovered on international waters can be claimed by whomever is fortunate enough to find and bring back to shore.
But once onboard the eerie, cavernous ship, the crew of the Arctic Warrior soon discover that the decaying vessel is anything but deserted. It's home to something deadly and horrific than anything they've encountered in all the years at sea. But what makes it more magnificent to the salvage team is that they appear to have hit a potential jackpot. because this small group of people find enough gold to change their lives a hundred times over. And under this pressure the people start to reveal their true selves. While the story of "Ghost Ship" is very simplistic . I did find the opening scene(while very predictable) to be very effective and fresh that had me gasping with shook and turning my stomach. The special effects were nothing really outstanding and the characters I found to be rather dull and not well developed at all. I did how ever like the way that the film incorporated ideas from 'The Shining".
Sadly though,"Ghost Ship" did lack in the gripping drama and characters of "The Shining," and Byrne does seem to be walking through his role wasting his talent. There are a few nice twists now and then, but really far to little to stop this ship from sinking to the bottom of any DVD collection..... My advice is really save this one for a rental as you will only want to watch this the once.... But if you have enjoyed the film well you could buy it for as little as £7.99 from Wooworths or HMV. Hope you enjoyed the review all the best Kat x

I want to see this out of curiousity now. Great detail. You would give Jonathan Ross a run for his money.

I have to agree with you. I owned this DVD but ended up selling it. Anyone watching the first ten minutes would think it was a great film but after that it goes down hill. The women getting her breasts out is also not needed.... Ghost Ship belongs at the bottom of the see...
