Like it's predecessor, this is a veritable masterpiece from director Mamoru Oshii. Visually, there's been an upgrade since the prequel with the inclusion of combined CGI with traditional manga, which looks impeccable. A fine example of the technique.
The soundrack is by Kenji Kawai, and creates the perfect envirnoment for the story and characters, not to mention the enthralling musical spikes during expositional scenes.
While the narrative is difficult to follow, like the first Ghost in the Shell, it's entertaining at the least and involved at the most. A good idea is to watch several times, to pick up all the different layers of information presented.
The movie revolves around the same topic as the prequel, albeit much more deep. The humanity of machines. Again, several viewings will make the experience gain meaning, and the animation/music never disappoints. Please rate my review!

Good review of the film itself, although I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
