the title of his latest album Get Rich or Die Trying. The New York native comes from the same school as B.I.G, Shine and Mobb Deep--a raw street rhymer who mixes the thug and poet in one perplexing package. 50 cent earned extra cred by coming up through mix-tape popularity after his first album was dropped when the ex-boxer was shot on the eve of its release. Guns, threats, drug deals and misogyny populate 50 Cent's outlaw world, but it's a popular mix--hence his recently sealed link with Eminem's record company. The excellent "Wanksta" was pulled onto the 8 Mile soundtrack and Dr Dre produced the crunching first single, "In Da Club". Jamaican Sean Paul puts his now familiar patter on the hypnotic "Dem Not Ready". "If You Want It" is a ridiculously rude party joint, while "Cocaine Dreams" takes a pop at Ja Rule. "Got the Hood on Smash" is, undoubtedly, damn funky. Sadly his first single "How to Rob an Industry N***A" (reminiscent of B.I.G's equally scabrous "Dreams") doesn't appear. Even the most hardcore have to tone it down sometimes. --Jake Barnes

Advantages: Good soundtrack for 50 cent fans Disadvantages: poor acting, poor directing, poor script
...death, aswell as deciding to get into the family business. The general outline of the rest of the movie with Greer grown up is similar to musical counterpart Eminems 8 mile. New York drug dealer Marcus Greer/Young Caesar (Jackson) finds that his future lie away from a life of crime after a spell in prison. Out of prison, however, the temptation of money gets the better of him and his manager Bama (the impressive Terrence Howard). A robbery soon turns ... ...2 hours this movie does get tedious and Jackson doesn't seem to have the energy and charisma to last 120 minutes as the star in most scenes.
In my opinion this movie wasn't worth the bus fare to the cinema and back or the fee to get into the cinema, let alone paying £15 for the dvd. If you can watch this movie and have nothing else to do then you should try it. Of course 50 Cent fans will love it as they are the type of fans who follow artists such ...

Advantages: A fun movie to pass time and a great soundtrack. Disadvantages: Not an epic movie and if you don't like 50 Cent, you'll hate this.
Let us get some of the housekeeping out of the way. I do like 50 Cent, I can stand G-Unit, but if you think all rap music is rubbish then this film will irritate you more than itching powder. I don't own it on DVD, and I wouldn't, but I saw the film on opening weekend at the cinema and it was a fun film to watch with friends who have a common interest with me. If you want to rent it or watch it when there is nothing else to TV, that would probably ... ...or dying trying. Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is by no means the worst film I have ever seen, and it was enjoyable to watch. It's a journey through a life from boy to man with a lot of problems on the way, and if you understand that it is not really a true story on 50/Curtis Jackson's life then you might have a better time with it. Fiddy, don't quit the day job. ...

Advantages: fantastic atmosphere with a great emotion rollercoaster Disadvantages: none
Honestly.. i didnt look forward to watching this film. i thought it would be all rap and hate and killing. yes there is a slight bit of killing and rap but it makes the movie. This film made me cry 3 different times with 3 different emotions, happiness, sadness, and scaryness. the film is created on '50 cents' life and it creates a different opinion on 50 cent all together. Marcus (50 cent) recalls his journey from orphaned street kid making his ... ...fellow ex-con(Terrence Howard) for his shot at becoming a succesful rap artist. Marcus has a girlfriend in the film and she becomes pregnant with Marcus' child. Marcus starts off being a terrible boyfriend and father to his unborn child but when he realised that his girlfriend and son are moe important than his life as a rap artist. towards the end of the film everything turns out right for marcus. This is the most emotional film with the best up ...

Advantages: True story told in a dramatic, yet interesing way Disadvantages: Not for the hardcore rap hater
...made by a rapper to get some extra $. But this time, your wrong.
This film is an almost perfectly accurate story of 50 cents life and is really interesting even if you arent a big fan. Even if you have never heard of them, it is worth watching.
The story starts with him when he was shot several times, and then, a flashback of his life upto that point. as a boy, in school and then when his mum dies, getting into dealing coke and all the troubles ... ...timeline is progressing until we get back to the shooting event, which is then explained, and life carrys on until we are at the present.
My telling of the story would do no justice to the fantastic-ness of the film, you will have to see it yourself to appreciate how good it really is
Contains : Lots of rap music, violence, a little injection of comedy, plenty of blood, drugs and a bit of sex.
Not suited for people who have an anti-violent state ...

Actor(s): Benz Antoinee, Viola Davis, Curtis Jackson, Bill Duke, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Joy Bryant
Director(s): Jim Sheridan
Genre: Drama
Classification: 15 years and over
Production Year: 2005
Running Time: 1 hour 52 minutes
Video Category: Feature Film
Plot: With GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN', rapper Curtis 50 Cent Jackson follows in the footsteps of his musical counterpart, Eminem (8 MILE), by giving movie stardom a shot. Directed by Jim Sheridan (IN AMERICA, MY LEFT FOOT) and written by Terence Winter, the film tells a fictionalised version of 50 Cent's own troubled life story. Marcus is a quiet young man who adores his loving mother (Serena Reeder). But after she is brutally murdered in an apparent drug deal gone wrong, Marcus heads down the wrong road himself. He abandons high school to sell drugs for local kingpin Levar (Bill Duke) and his underling, Majestic (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). Years later, when he reunites with his childhood sweetheart (Joy Bryant) and is thrown in jail, Marcus decides to leave drug selling behind in order to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a rapper. Unfortunately, Majestic doesn't want to let him go, resulting in a tragedy that might destroy his life forever. Much like Curtis Hanson with 8 MILE, Sheridan seems an unlikely choice to direct an urban drama about the blossoming of a gangsta rapper. But that is exactly what makes his film so refreshing. Photographed with a gritty tenderness by Declan Quinn and featuring another scene-stealing turn from Terrence Howard, GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN' is equal parts social commentary, crime thriller, and heartfelt drama.

Professional reviews
Review: The outstanding cinematographer is Declan Quinn, who creates a gorgeously crumbly 1970s Bronx in colors of dirt and blood (Entertainment Weekly, )
It is a follow-your-dream tale of adversity and redemption, somewhat in the manner of 8 MILE and HUSTLE & FLOW, combined with an underworld saga of betrayal and revenge (New York Times, )
Sheridan and Winter give 50 emotional range, moral choices and consequences... (Uncut, )
