Striker manages to get the part of Demetrius; Alison gets the part of Hermia, and Kelly even gets the part she had heart set on, Helena. Berke manages to score the part of attendant number 3, which is ok as he’s not exactly after an Oscar. Berke and Alison are the perfect high school couple. They’ve been dating for 16 months and Berke couldn’t be happier. Alison however feels that the spark is no longer there and breaks the news to Berke. It’s over. He is heartbroken but whilst moping around with his best friends Felix and Dennis (who frankly don’t care about his love situation) he notices Alison is beyond over it. Alison has moved on and is dating the new kid, the ‘British’ boy band singer Striker who all the girls want. Alison even decides to audition for the school play along with Striker. The play is “A Midsummer night’s dream” by William Shakespeare. Berke decides to audition so he can keep an eye on Alison and hopefully convince her to give them another shot. At the same time Berke’s best friend Felix’s sister Kelly is also auditioning for the play. Kelly has aspirations of becoming the next Joni Mitchell and even writes her own music, however the man in charge of the school play Dr. Desmond Forrest Oates seems to pick on Kelly, even though she is clearly talented. Kelly decides to help Berke out when he gets a small part in the play as she knows he is still in love with Alison, but little does Berke know, Kelly likes him too.

First time I saw this movie, I thought nothing of it. It was okay but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to see it again. Second time I watched it, I felt the same way. A few months later I decided to watch it again and for some strange reason my opinion drastically changed, I completely loved the movie. I don’t know why my opinion changed so drastically but since it did I have watched this movie a million times over. I think if you didn’t like this movie first time around, give it a chance to grow on you.
Unlike many teen movies released at around the same time “Get over it” isn’t a gross out comedy, neither does it rely on slapstick comedy for laughs. Instead the comedy is slightly more sarcastic (right up my street, then) and subtle. Most of the comedy comes from funny one-liners, rather than physical comedy.
I thought Kirsten Dunst was really great in this film. I know you probably think I am being biased as she is my favourite actress but I genuinely think her performance was great. Just because it’s a teen movie don’t expect her character Kelly to be a blonde bimbo, she’s far from that. Instead Kirsten plays Kelly as an intelligent, talented and nice person. In “Bring it on” Kirsten’s performance was much more fun, and at times over the top, in “Get over it” she seems to play the character a bit more subtly. Kirsten is a great actress. There’s no denying that. She gave brilliant performances in “Interview with the vampire” and “Little women”, but for this part of her life it’s the only time she’ll get away with these fun teen movie performances, so for this kind of film I thought she was great. You also get to hear Kirsten sing in the movie and I must say I was very impressed with her voice, didn’t realise she had it in her.
One of the best performances by far came from Martin Short who was just plain hilarious. He played Dr. Desmond Forrest Oates who was directing the play. He’s stuck in a job he obviously hates, and throughout the movie you see him daydreaming about what his life could have been if he had become famous like he wanted to. Always quoting famous people like he knew them when in actual fact he did not. For some reason he had a vendetta against innocent Kelly and refused to take any of her (very good) suggestions on board. He was definitely the funniest character in the entire movie. And I absolutely loved (loathed, same thing) the way he turned classic literature into a boy band music video.
Ben Foster gave a good performance as the unfortunate Berke. He was sweet and adorable right on cue to so it was easy to feel sorry for his character. I did think he played Berke as a bit of a loser sometimes but that just added to his character. I do think Ben Foster is a good actor, but there wasn’t much too this performance. Berke’s parents were played by Swoosie Kurtz and Ed Begley Jr. They are the most trusting parents ever, and I think they could easily be any teenagers dream parents. Some of the stuff they say is plain hilarious, and the scenes between Berke and his parents are classic.
A good performance came from Colin “son of Tom” Hanks, who I thought was just brilliant, he made me laugh on numerous occasions in this movie. He plays Berke’s best friend and Kelly’s older brother. Constantly making sure nobody touches his sister (she’s still a little girl to him) and desperately trying to get his best friend to move on and just get over it!
I think Shane West is a good actor, but my god in this film he just shocked me. I think (I think) he was supposed to be British but his accent is so dodgy you just can’t tell. Anyway he plays the evil Striker, who woo’s Alison after she breaks up with Berke. His character was supposed to be over the top, and for this I think West played him so appropriately.
Other good performances came from Mila Kunis as Basin, Kelly’s best friend. She wasn’t in the movie much but she was funny enough. This was Sisqo’s first movie role and it really wasn’t much. He was ok, but he wasn’t in the movie enough. Melissa Sagemiller played the part of Alison, the girl who breaks Berke’s heart. I thought she played the part well because you don’t hate her for dumping him, it’s not her fault she got bored of him!
The soundtrack to this movie is great but the standout track for me was “Dream of me” by Miss Kirsten Dunst herself. The song is a typical soppy ballad but it’s so beautiful and Kirsten obviously has a great voice. It also includes songs from Basement Jaxx, Fat boy Slim and Badly drawn boy. It’s a really good soundtrack for a teen movie.
Overall I thought this movie was a good laugh. It was light-hearted and at times sweet but not overly sentimental. I find it even more hilarious with each viewing which is odd, as that never happens. Anyway I recommend this to people who like teen movies. Also the guys in the movie remind me a lot of the guys in “American pie” so if you liked that, you might like “Get over it”. Just remember the gross out comedy is in short supply.

After numerous humiliating attempts at gaining his ex-girlfriends love which fail miserably he tries out for the school play, a musical version of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". And enlists the help of the outstanding Kelly who happens to be his best friends sister.

I really did not think the film was up to much. I did go expecting to see something similar to American Pie or the even more hilarious Road Trip but it lacked something.

...frightening me! How do you get dressed in the morning? Do you have people who come in? Or do you just lie in state?" (Desmond the Dotty Director)
Dr Desmond Forrest Oates, however, is a crazed perfectionist who won't settle for anything less than blood, sweat and tears from his cast and crew ("What direction do you think left is? But what he doesn't count on is that he starts to grow more than a little fond of her. So when Alison starts to wonder if she made the wrong decision, Berke is perhaps about to make a wrong decision of his own . . .
This is definitely an above-average example of the teen movie genre, from the surreal opening sequence to one of the funniest attempts at a musical I have ever been ...

Get Over It - Rated: 12
Berke, a typical non entity that can be found in any high school, is dumped by his long term girlfriend Allison. To win back her heart, and to keep her away from the new man in her life, a Brit called Bentley, he enrolls as an extra in the school play. having no idea how to perform in this musical version of a Mid Summer Nights Dream, he enlists the help of his best friend's little sister, Kelly, who ultimately wants to do ... ...of Shakespearean verse? Get Over It displays all the qualities of a sure fire teen flick hit. Gorgeous leads, well written lines, a good - but simple - plot, and lots of references to body parts. It also, by nature of including Shakespeare and having many talented people in lead roles, lends itself to romatic comedy genre. This is its major flaw. It does not know what it is supposed to be. Take for example the opening credits, where Berke is followed ...

I'm not a fitness freak but I do like to stay reasonably fit, I have bought quite a few fitness dvds over the years and I have to say that this is the best one. Not a huge fan of Davina as she usually goes a bit OTT when on the TV but I found her to be quite inspiring as she just gets on with it and looks genuinely puffed out. Being instructed by two personal trainers is great as it gives an easier alternative to the exercises in parts when you are starting to feel the strain. The warm up gets you in the mood for the exercise and the cool down is very relaxing. A great DVD, I could start to see results after doing it about 4 or 5 times. ...

Mock The Week is my favourite programme on tv. It has me in stitches every time i watch it so when my dad got this dvd off one of his mates and gave it to me i thought: "Yes, no more being down" because it is impossible to keep a straight face whilst watching this programme.
In my opinion, everyone on this show is a comic genius, even the host Dara O Brian is funny. My personal favourite is Russell Howard.
The actual dvd itself is 3 uncut episodes form series 5 and hours of extra footage and deleted scenes that were just too rude, offensive or outrageous for BBC to have broadcasted.
Every time i watch this dvd i crack up. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone because for a price tag of about £20 it is well worth your money and you will never get tired of watching it. Even my little sister is hooked on this dvd.
