An epitaph from The Quiet One

Advantages: One of his best solo albums - in fact, possibly THE best
Disadvantages: That front cover design (but see review)

'Brainwashed' was the album George Harrison, 'The Quiet One' of the Beatles, began working on around two years before his death in November 2001. He had already undergone treatment for cancer, and a violent physical assault on him in 1999 had clearly taken its toll. Yet there's a total absence of self-pity about these songs. Occasionally there is anger at the state of the world around him, but on the whole it's a remarkably uplifting collection of work from a man who had been away from the recording scene for several years ? his last previous studio album as a soloist was released in 1987 - and who was determined to leave a real blinder for the world to remember him by. Left unfinished at his death, it was completed by former ELO man, Traveling Wilbury colleague and honorary Beatle Jeff Lynne, and George's son Dhani, both of whom add ...

Review of Brainwashed (+DVD) - George Harrison

Can you keep it quiet, Dot..?

Advantages: Excellent performance by Elisha Cuthbert and Camilla Belle.
Disadvantages: Some disturbing moments and dialogues.

and did not do well in box office. Though it has a moderate rating on IMDB (Online database which evaluates movies by the viewer?s reception and their ratings) 6.5/10 by more than six thousand viewers. Movie Website: http://www.sonyclassics.com/thequiet/main.html Movie Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxfF7YQD6nA FINAL THOUGHT AND RECOMMENDATION ?The Quiet? is not a movie that you would expect to watch intentionally. It is not one of those normal psychological thrillers with common mystery and surprising twists. This movie is far deeper and unpredictable. The storyline revolves in to a distinctive, disturbing and shocking way that you never would have guessed. It is a well directed movie with some excellent performances by the lead characters. I am really confused whether I recommend this movie or not. It is not ...

Review of The Quiet (DVD)

One for the DVD Player

Advantages: A different take on a musician on the road, amusing and touching
Disadvantages: None!

what a talented musician Tilbrook is - he plays Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile" on an acoustic guitar with great flair and his vocals are incredibly good. The Squeeze songs he performs just with his guitar and voice are also shown to be incredibly good - so many songs just don't stand up that way. Other scenes which are enjoyable are ones where Tilbrook pitches up in an RV park in South Carolina and introduces himself to the driver of an RV identical to the one he is driving and discovers this man is a Squeeze fan, where he goes shopping in Target for the very first time, proclaiming he is "aroused" at the experience (something I can relate to!) and when he appears on local TV in San Diego lower down the bill than "pet of the week". The most moving part for me is seeing Tilbrook learn of the death of George Harrison. He is clearly upset ...
