Advantages: Funny, contemporary, clever script, music Disadvantages: A bit long for some
...Described as 'an exciting, action packed comedic adventure', and it is. It opens with a jousting arena and the sound of Queen's 'We will rock you'! This is apparently done to give the film a contemporary feel, and in a funny sort of way it works!
THE STORY
It's the 14th Century and Sir Ector, the master of peasant squire William Thatcher and his two compatriots Wat and Roland, has been competing in a jousting tournament and is apparently resting/recuperating between jousts. Advantages: An easy film to watch Disadvantages: I don't think there are any
...this film.
As I have already mentioned if you want the history of jousting then I would not recommend this film, however if you want an enjoyable family comedy then this is perfect.
I think the conflict between Watt and Geoff is great, Geoff just knows how to wind Watt up and Geoff gets what he deserves for doing so. I also enjoyed the part where William manipulates the female blacksmith into fixing his armour with no way to pay.
The film is rated PG so if you have young children you may want to watch it first to check the suitability but I would say that there is only one scene that is not suit, otherwise it is a very good family film.
I bought this DVD from Choices video store in an offer of 3DVD's for £15, which makes this good value for money....
