Advantages: Better plot, acting and effects than the first two movies
Disadvantages: May not appeal to the mass public

...Star Trek began in the 60s as a cult series; slowly it began to become popular worldwide and eventually it spawned some movies. 'The Motion Picture' and 'The Wrath of Khan' were adequate movies that seemed to add too much 'Hollywood' to the theme and thus in my eyes were not successful representations of the original series. Over the years Paramount produced many movies, learning from each as they went and improving the product; Star Trek must now be the most successful movie series of all time. Jaws had four movies; Star Wars had 4; Rocky had 5; Star Trek now has 9! As the series progressed, the effects got better and the story lines improved thus enticing more and more people to watch the 'cult' show. Other sites online are charging anything from £6.95 to £15.99 so it is advisable to shop around before getting this. Synopsis ~~~~~~~ The film starts with a short playback from the previous film (Star Trek 2 - The Wrath of Khan) showing his death, and his 'coffin' being ejected from the Enterprise. We see the old faithfuls congregating in Spock's honour. In this film we meet Spock's father, Sarek, who visits Kirk to request that they return to the Genesis sector to retrieve Spock's body so that his eternal soul can be laid to rest according to Vulcan...
