Advantages: A strong British sitcom Disadvantages: Still has it's odd critic
Name a decent British sitcom from the last 5 years....now name one that isn't written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant....or David Mitchell and Robert Webb...all you're left with (in my opinion) is a little known sitcom written by Ruth Jones and James Corden that has escalated from a bit-part in the schedule of BBC Three to one of the most loved comedies of recent years - Gavin & Stacey.
The story goes of two people who have never met, Gavin (Matthew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page), but eventually decide to do so after months of chatting to one another over the phone. Upon meeting in the middle of Leicester Square along with their best mates, Smithy (played by Corden) and Nessa (Jones), they hit it off and decide it was one of the best decisions they ever made. The same can't be said about Smithy and Nessa however...
As the series ...
Advantages: Hilarious Disadvantages: Dont think there is any!
I Just absolutely love this programme!!! Hilarious! Cant wait to watch the next series (if there is one)!
Every series done so far has been great, including the christmasspecial they did last year!
I think Ruth Jones is fab, her part in the programme is so so so funny!
When i first started to watch it, i didnt think it would be my cup of tea, but watched it anyway and actually found myself laughing all the way through.
Ruth Jones and James Horden's comedy writing is genius!
I will be purchasing all the series on DVD including the christmasspecial! I still watch the episodes over and over when they are repeated on TV.
I have even got my partner hooked! He loves it as much as i do! ...
Advantages: Brilliant comedy Disadvantages: The end of it.
the same. Thankfully, this one is somewhat different. Yes, you have your director's commentary, but it also includes a featurette on them winning their Golden Globes, a making of the XmasSpecial documentary, similar to how series 1 and 2 had 'making of' segments, and full versions of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and "Freelove Freeway" (from Series 1) to keep you fully amused.
To obtain yourself a copy, you can get the DVD of it from Amazon for £14.98, which is arguably a bit steep for what is primarily just two (extended) episodes of the programme. However, you can buy it "used & new" for just £6.89?much better!!
Of course, some people just don't 'get' the humour behind the Office - it's too dry, and even annoying in many places. Some people, myself included, think it's absolutely genius. That's the wonderful thing about comedy - it can ...
