G I Blues, first hit the cinema's in 1960, The Legendary Rock and Roll King Elvis, had not long finished his time, doing a stint of National service for his country, and this film is a light hearted reflection of his time there.
The basics of the story. Elvis's and his friends sent to Germany on a posting, because the powers that be are afraid that if they stay where they are any longer, no women will be safe, from their philandering ways.
Thinking that the German ways and regime would be tougher for them to crack, the boys are soon on their way.
Come on though, who could resist Elvis in uniform, that cheeky smile, his boyish ways, and what a body : ).
Elvis is soon wowing the locals, with his swinging, singing ways, making a few extra dollars in the local bar, in an attempt to kick start his bands career, for when they leave the army.
The local girls are soon falling at his feet, bar one, and this is the girl that Elvis falls for, but she's not so easily led, will Elvis get his way, will he win the girls heart, or will he just end up with the,' G.I. Blues'?
On a personal note, I think this is by far one of Elvis's better films. Here we see a young Elvis, but no longer a boy, he truly has grown into a man, and a great singer by then, The proof was in the pudding, as after his return from the Army Elvis wasn't sure how the public would accept him, But as we all now know, there was never any doubt; Elvis will always be a legend in his own right.
Tracks included on the film are.
G.I Blues, The Frankfurt Special, Daddy Big boots, Did you ever and hit single Wooden Heart.
